Hi Everyone

I have started a series of videos about Festool's approach to some elements of workplace organisation. I initially set out to cover just storage options but I have expanded this and will eventually include the Sys MFT, Sys Powerhub and the CTL Sys.

The majority of this kit has been purchased by me from Axminster Tools and Machinery and I just walked in and paid the regular price. I did ask the chap serving me if there was a chance of a discount - he was very polite and I did not get any discount at all. Festool UK have kindly lent a couple of items to me.

Here is the link to the first video which went up this morning:

Video #2 will be done very soon and I will follow that with the video about the inserts that I made for the Sys Toolbox. These two videos may have to be swapped around.

The CTL Sys is due to arrive soon. I must confess that I have never rated the Sys MFT and thought it a silly idea. How wrong can you be - it is brilliant but it lacks one very important feature which I am working on right now.

I have a KS60 in its box sitting on the workshop floor and I am unable to unpack it until I have a major clear up. So, mixed in amongst all of this you should expect something on the new mitre saw. The kit is again on loan from Festool UK and I am on a tight time frame so that it can be collected and sent on to the next reviewer.

Peter

I meant to ask - do you like the closing music ??

Perfect timing and a great video with real world demonstration. I'm new to the Festool world but organization is what I'm all about, even ordered my tools with SYS Drawers. Seeing what actually fits in these will give me an idea on how many and how to build out the shop and mobile cart.

I will do my best to produce the remaining videos as fast as I can but I will need to look at the KS60 soon in order to get it to the next reviewer in the chain.

Hi Everyone

I burnt rather a lot of midnight oil last night but managed to finish the editing of the second video.

Well done Peter. You look different did you lose weight. Get a few hair plugs? Anyway I like the dea of the inserts you made for the tool box I'm going to use that one when I get state side. I'm also going to be picking up a box kit as well. After watching the second video and owning a couple of those 3 door syst it seems well worth the cash.

Looking forward to the next one. Less then 90 days to go now probably more like 80 days...

Nice videos.  All great information and as mentioned the small boxes.  I had no idea they were available.  You asked so I'll respond.  I've come to enjoy and recognize your usual music, I know when I hear it that another one of your great videos is coming on.  Sort of a trade mark sound.

Thank you for the information

Hi Ron,

Lose weight? Me? In fact I have been on steroids for months now and my face has blown up like a balloon.

If you are going back to the US then do make sure that you get back on the FOG straight away.

Cheers.

I remember watching a trainee driver doing skid pan work and he did the most amazing recovery from a big slide. When the car stopped the instructor got out and I could see him congratulating the driver. The poor guy went on the fail his defensive driving course - he was just lucky on that one manoeuvre.

That sort of sums up my music. I am a rubbish player but I sometimes get lucky with not a hope in hell of being able to repeat the success.

Cheers.

Hi Everyone,

I have completed the video showing how to make the inserts for the Sys Toolbox.

The plans are available free of charge but I need an email address to send them - you can PM that to me if you like.

Here is the link:

I will be working on the Sys MFT, CTL Sys and Sys Powerhub in a couple of weeks time as I have a deadline to finish the KS60 and CTM 26.

Thanks Peter, now I have more items to add to my want list. Videos are great as usual.

Many thanks Don.

The kit is excellent but not cheap. Some argue that it is better to make your own but I doubt whether a busy professional could justify spending the time doing this. My "guesstimate" is that most professionals could earn enough in time that they would take to make toolboxes (with drawers and that fit together) to buy double the number of Festool storage solutions than they need.

Very nice as usual Peter.  I was a bit doubtful that even you could make an interesting video about some empty boxes but you managed nicely.  I like the look of the insert and looking forward to seeing that video.

Cheers.

Hi Jeff,

The link to the insert video is above.

Peter.  I got a chuckle out of your first video where you were bouncing the tool box around and said they were "terribly well made".

Hi Peter, seen that you're about to review the Kapex 60. Please can you look at the shadow light and see if you have to lower the blade to use it? Thank you.

Hi Stuart

I am ahead of you. I have nearly finished all the filming. In my view the shadow line is improved by lowering the saw. However, the shadow line is no more accurate than a laser. If you need precision to 0.5 mm then use a fine pencil mark and kiss the surface with the blade to get it spot on. Better still, use the UG cart and the length stops which eliminates all the guess work.

The saw is really well made and the cuts that I have done are very accurate. The bed area where the wood rests is quite small, certainly compared to the KS120 as the KS60 has the 60 degree both way mitre. That reduces the possible size of the work piece support.

The main casting is excellent and to a better standard than the KS 120.

I have a lot of editing to do and may need to re-shoot the odd bit. But all being well the videos should appear in about 5 days from now.

My biggest worry is how to get it all back in the box to get it back to Festool. They use a banding machine when they send out their cartons and I have to cut that stuff off to get at the contents. I think that I am going to have to buy a banding machine now to re-pack all the tools - life is never easy.
