balance of the cxs is much nicer with the old batteries vs the newer wide ones made for the txs.

I never realized the battery shape changed from the old CXS (which I have) and the new one- Thanks for pointing that out.  I want to get another one eventually, and I wasn't too fired up about getting this one, but now knowing this I may have to have a change of heart.  It would be nice to be able to interchange batteries between the two...

Gerald

Both the old and new batteries work on any CXS.  The old ones don't work on the TXS.
But, yes, again, the new batteries on the CXS pretty much defeat the whole point of the CXS, if that makes sense.

Cheese , while I commend those that solved your issue and the expediency with which they carried it out; I wince that the ball was dropped by the recon team themselves.

Wasn't there a reconditioning checklist for the 700 to bring it back up to spec ?  If not why not ?  If there was, why wasn't it followed ?  Shouldn't have been any missing parts. Not like they had thousands of these to go through.

More troubling for me is that you got a ten year old "used tool" and was in a classic systainer.  That should have been disclosed at the very least.  Or , was it ?

Hey I agree with you 100%. The easiest thing in life is to just pay your money and take your ride...

Had there been a full bow attached to the MFK 700 package I purchased, there'd been absolutely no reason for interdiction on my part...I'd have not had to hail Tyler, he'd not have had to hail Kiana, she'd not have had to hail the parts people, they'd have not had to hail the shipping people and Festool would not have had to pay for the packaging and shipment of extra parts that should have been included in the original shipment. Extra money spent...extra margin lost. I think we need to support the worker-bees at Festool and rather rail against the Festool management which at various times seem incredibly inept.

My only intent was to congratulate the extra effort that the internal Festool team took to solve a customer complaint. And I appreciate that.

I actually prefer the new batteries for the CXS because the base is substantially wider. This means the CXS is less tippy when you stand it up. With the original 1.5 batteries, the CXS tends to fall over most of the time. And then there’s the issue of changing batteries constantly because of their limited capacity.

I'm curious if anyone else feels this way. I got an email this morning asking me to sign up for their email when reconditioned tools become available. So I did.

I get home from work and check my emails. There are six emails from Festool touting various tools they have for sale reconditioned. When I click on the buy now link in any of those emails, I get a page that says the tools is sold out.

From what I understand, they only send an email that focuses on a singular product. So basically there is one or two alike and the email goes out. Based on the small sample size of six, it appears that I will never actually have a chance to purchase one of these tools and will a whole bunch of worthless emails from the process.

Has anyone had a better experience with this?

Bernie

Today's rapid fire barrage is a bit unique during this sale.  Looks like they were trying to generate some buzz rolling into the holiday.

Last week you could have bought a cxs drill easy peasy. It was up for three or four days. The last kapex round was up for a couple of days too.  Dominos go in a matter of minutes.

There is a whole discussion (twenty pages) on the recon sale you may want to read before you jump in the water.  The jist is : buyer beware and if you do decide you want one;  be ready to buy within minutes of receiving the email.

"be ready to buy within minutes of receiving the email."

Unfortunately that is my point. Some of us work all day and don't get the be checking email. So we will never be "within minutes."

I'm looking for that recon thread now.

Thanks,
Bernie

Hello,

I stumbled upon this forum while trying to learn more about festoolrecon.com. My husband has been drooling over the Domino Joiner DF 500 Q Set for quite some time, but he would never spend the money for one.

Today, I bought one for him on the recon website as a Christmas present. The fact that I saved money on it and don’t have the option of returning it will make the, “You deserve it, and you’re keeping it,” talk a little easier. 😉 We’ve had a lot of positive experiences buying things “refurbished,” “opened box,” “warehouse deal,” etc.

I honestly don’t know whether their new recon website will turn out to be a good or bad idea, but I, personally, think the idea is brilliant! I don’t even use their tools, but I’ve spent the past week completely obsessed with checking my emails to see what tool will go on sale next. LOL! It’s been a ton of fun!

Hopefully, the website will do well and still be around next April for his birthday. 😊

Welcome to the FOG Sheri!!!

This recon sale can yield both good deals and not so good deals. In your case however, the DF 500, even if it arrives in a brown paper bag as a case, is a good deal.  [big grin]

Your husband may protest a bit when he first opens it up, however after looking at it for 15 minutes, the DF 500 will be more difficult to remove from his hands than trying to take away a bologna sandwich from a bulldog.

The good news is that because of Festool’s liberal 30 day tool return policy, a sale like this is virtually guaranteed to happen every 1-2 years. The festoolrecon website is actually owned/operated by Festool corporate. So all of these tools for sale have been looked over/reconditioned by actual Festool service technicians.

Youve had a fun time engaging in the sale and your husband will be thrilled...doesn’t get much better than that.

They have TS55, TS75, HK55, TSC55, and HKC55, then they have set and basic versions.

I'm up to 20 emails in total in the last three days.  I remember Tyler saying the emails would be very low volume.

Just got another saw for sale.

I’m guessing each of these batches are very small quantities.

Plus the metric & imperial versions. I think I saw some of the original metric versions yesterday.

It's pretty funny though, I receive the emails after they've already been sold.  [tongue]

How can you tell if it’s metric or imperial? I didn’t see it in the emails or the website to purchase the recon.
