ETS EC 150/5 up for $364.

Tempting (I would like this sander), but after almost 10% Tennessee sales tax, I would rather buy new and get 3-year warranty, with right to return.

Anyone had experience between the old vs new version?  I have the older version and just curious if this good opportunity to upgrade and see a significant difference or if I should stay with what I have.

Thanks,
Gerald
Both are good, I thought the new ones had a bit more wattage in the motor power?  I have both, old and new, and like others have said, the edge guard is a nice feature to have finally on one of the non-Rotex sanders for a change.
The body of the sanders, since they are different ,might sway a potential buyer, but you'd have to hold both styles to know for yourself.

it doesnt come with a blade right? Without a blade and the angle transfer guide it pretty much puts it near retail after getting those pieces.

What?!? No blade and no angle guide? Does it come with the 3 year warranty?

Posting on behalf of another member....................

Does the recon Kapex come with blade?

If yes, is the blade new?

Does the recon Kapex come with angle finder?

Unless specified otherwise, the recon tools should come with the scope of delivery of the listed product number. So the KAPEX (561287) should include the following:

  • 60-Tooth Universal Carbide Saw Blade
  • MiterFast Angle Transfer Device
  • Hold-Down Clamp
  • Wrench

Just bought an ETS EC 150/3 for $363.75 and it looks like there are others still available.  I’m hoping that it will be a nice compliment to my RO 150. ;D

In the description of what's included, neither of those items are mentioned, which is why i suspected they were not included. From the listing:

Includes:

Bevel
Hold Down Clamp
Wrench
In carton
Product Number: 561287

I was also thinking that it would be a nice pairing with the RO150, but then I thought I probably don't really need another sander at this time and after tax, I didn't think the discount was that great of a deal.

I thought 25% discount was good enough for me, basically an EC for the price of and ETS. Been on the fence looking for a brother to my Rotex

Trying to find out about blade and angle finder now.

Seth

Same scope of delivery description has been in the email listings for Kapex 120 since Nov. 27.
ie, no mention of blade or angle finder.

The Kapex listed Nov 27. had no description of sod.

And the warranty on recon tools? Is it still 3 years?

It never was 3 years...that’s the rub.

To sum things up, in the past, it was 20, 30 or 40% off, depending upon the amount of use the tool has seen, with a 1 year warranty. It’s now 25% off, irrespective of the amount of use/condition of the tool, and still with only a 1 year warranty.

That’s what has the bees 🐝 🐝  so stirred up. To add insult to injury, Festool has now also added state sales tax, county sales tax and local sales tax to the sale price, even if they have no portal in the state.
So, I can literally purchase a new tool from Uncle Bob or Tool Nut with a 3 year warranty for almost the same amount of $$$ that this recon sale offers the tool at and it will have a 3 year warranty and a 30 day return option. The recon tools have a 1 year warranty and a ZERO day return policy.  [mad] [crying] [crying]

Unless conditions change, count me out for next year...

I shared both of these sentiments while frantically trying to decide whether or not to complete the checkout.  In the end, my desire for a one-handed finishing sander, the ~$100 discount, and the higher durability of brushless motors was enough for me to feed the beast.
