I found this workbench from a manufacturer called "FESTUS" in the Lufthansa World Shop. They sell it for 450 EUR, which is a little too much for my taste!

On their website they show two versions, probably one for the woodworker without suitcase, but no prices. The representatives they show don't list FESTUS only Lufthansa does for Germany and Switzerland.

It's in German:

Love the "I dream of Genie" music in the video.

Now we just need to get Festool to manufacture a miniature 12 volt Domino (to run off aircraft power) ... won't get bored on international flights any more.

Here's a crazy thought ...

Economy class, business class, first class ... then the ultimate ... woodworker class ... a special seating pod with all of your wood working essentials for long haul flights

I like it.  [thumbs up] [drooling]

By the way, the idea of a small portable bench in a systainer is not all that far-fetched.  I have made an insert for my maxi-systainer that holds a small "bench" and tools for work on stained glass and am starting to design such an insert for wood-carving.

have you posted that maxi bench . i must have missed it if you have. i saw the other sys insert you made
