This is my latest creation. This was built for a woman who wanted something special for her husband. It's made of figured Koa, figured Maple, Walnut and Spanish Cedar. The tiles in the bottom are moveable to organize cigars in groups. The finish is 12 coats of Lacquer. It's brushed on and blocked out by hand. Please enjoy.

As always, very nice.  Whatever happened with the "Monster?"  Did you finish it or did I miss the final pictures?

Bill,

I don't think I own anything, other than my wife,  that would be worthy of putting into one of your boxes.

Could you do one about 65" X 30" x24" deep?

Neill

Bill,

I don't think there is anyone that builds nicer boxes than you do. I mean it. You have really found it. Please submit one of your boxes to the Design in Wood Contest. You will win, Im sure. With a win in that show the piece will be pictured in most of the good wwing mags.

You guys are so incredibly kind. Thank you very, very much. As far as the big one goes, I'm still working on it but it's almost done. Eiji, coming from you, that's a much appreceiated compliment. What is this contest you are speaking of? I'm always up for a contest.  ;D

Once of these days, I'll have the money to actually call you to make me one. Too bad I can't get my wife to read the FOG. Beautiful work as always Bill. I'm very jealous.

Bill,

Your work is beyond beautiful.  The projects you post just explode off of the screen!

If it isn't a trade secret, where do you purchase your wood?

Not to answer for Bill, but if you ever need veneer, check out Certainly Wood

Steve,

If I buy any more veneer my wife will dispose of me.  [eek]  I already have 4000 plus square feet of veneer here.  I thought that much of Bill's work was in solid wood.

Peter

Agree, with the solid wood and Bill's work, I was just passing along the site for others who might be interested in a source for veneer.  Sounds like you could start a veneer supply web site.

Thanks everyone. I was able to acquire all the exotic woods both solid and veneer from Leer Jet when they closed up. My friend had bought it and traded me for some Gold I had. On my humidors, the frames are solid and the panels are veneer. This is necessary due to wood movement. A humidor is kept around 65% humidity. Wood with that much moisture content will break any joint. Humidors are actually very complicated to build to last. Just makes it that much more fun. ;D

Have me build you one and I'll send you some cigars. Good ones too. ;D I have around 1000 cigars. Kind of a small collection compaired to the people I build the humidors for. One of my customers has a room in his house about 15x20 as a walk in humidor.  [eek]

I forgot to mention, the domino is a critical tool in the success of this build. All the corners of the lid and base are joined using the domino. w/o a domino in the miter, it would eventually come apart. (I know because an old box I built years ago did) needless to say my DTS 150 (won it here) was essential in prepping for the finish as well. Festool's have become an integral part in the quality and longevity of the work I do.  [smile]

You fool, Neill...I almost choked to death on my beer reading this...if you hear that's happened, could you do me a favour and ask Bill to rustle up another one, of similar dimensions.
