Fill in the blank: I wish Festool made a ______!

Smaller packs for abrasives and domino tenons.  Seems like whenever you buy a new festool toy, you have to spend almost the same amount for the accompanying accessories.  For instance, let's say you buy a Rotex  sander, then you have to buy all the grits from 80 to 320 all at a 50 or 100 pack minimum per grit.  Same thing applies to the domino XL, not only do you have to buy the beech systainer assortments x2, you also have to buy the sipo tenons as well just to do outdoor projects.  What's worse about the domino XL is that the 12 mm and 14 mm are only available in the $95 cut your own 750 mm sticks.

I work at a power plant and just do woodworking as a hobby.  So I don't need 100 sheets of sandpaper per grit or 36 750mm sticks of sipo tenon stock.  Seems like festool sells these things with the mindset that all its customers are woodworking professionals and own a high volume business making high end cabinets and furniture.  Kinda wish festool would think of the little guys who work in small garages and would be happy with just 25 pack abrasives or 18 stick or less sipo tenon packs.

There are dealers that will sell abrasive assortments to you. Im also a hobbyist and I bought assortments for my RO150, ETS150, RO90 and DTS400. For my DTS400 I requested an assortment of 5 each: Granat 40-400, Brilliant2 40-400 and Rubin2 40-220 all in a systainer.
I would like to see a sipo Domino assortment.

I'm envisioning a special FastFix chuck assembly that goes between the drill and another chuck, the way the angle adapter does.

This particular accessory places the drill at the end of a spring-loaded frame that rests against a workpiece, allowing the drill to be "plunged" into the workpiece to make perfectly perpendicular cuts.

I would like to see them come out with a small hand vac that could be carried easily with one hand....(Think dirt devil or dust buster, but one that actually worked.)  It could be used with a tool in a pinch perhaps, but would be primarily focused on small clean ups.

Also, Are they working on an air-assisted airless finishing system?  I would like to see that someday!

How about cabinet design software???  [big grin]

A How-To book/DVD on using the TS55/LR32/Domino/OF1010 etc. to make cabinets with all the insider tips would probably sell like hotcakes. Basically Guido's Chaos Theory in an Anglicized version. Festool could even make it a Dealer Promo item like the short videos they have been supplying the last few years.

Then we could all give CCarol some competition. [poke]

5 x 24 dominoes. I had conversation on another forum. Folks there use a lot of 16mm stock. The only reason why they are still using biscuit joiners for cabinets is that 5x30 dominoes don't  fit well 16mm sheet goods. 4x20 dominoes are too small for that task too.

i think this is one of the situations where it is better to make them yourself. you can make them any size you want

It's hard to find 16mm stock in the NA now. I'm not sure how popular 16mm sheet material in Europe, but I know at least 5 persons who didn't buy Domino because it's inconvenient for them.

What if festool made a vac rail???? You just hooked up the rail to vac system. Would leave saw/ router free to work. It could have a series of small holes to suck up saw dust as tool passed along it. So battery saw users would have no trailing leads to deal with. Rails are a static item when cutting/routing so vac should be too.??? Any opinions? I think london tube system uses rails to transfer power to the train would'nt it be great if your rails could transfer power to your tools? Without fire risk.....

Hey,  [eek]

I wish festool made the following:

- A similar machine to the domino that could bore out mortices for mortice locks.

- A sturdier, heavy duty, portable on site kapex saw table with built in drawers with small workbench, scrap box attachment, and an integrated power board. This table becomes the hub for all other tools in an on site set up situation. Additional tool holder for attaching multiple tools when not in use. When not in use, table easily packs away onto truck and be weatherproof.

- multimaster tool. Similar to the fein products. Blades to be sturdier.

I'm pretty sure I saw someone on here use the Domino XL to bore for mortice locks.

This can be done with the DF700 Domino - I show it in one of my Domino Extra videos.

I want a magic MFT table that:
- magically has holes in it when I want to attach clamps and dogs
- magically doesn't have holes in it through which screws and other small items can fall

I heard they sell them at Hogwarts.

Hmm... how about lining the hole walls with magnets?
