Filler for painted wood

What's the best, quickest, easiest, filler for interior wood that's to be painted?

I always use a 2 part epoxy filler. Originally developped for the automotive sector it is now used everywhere. I have a convenient dispenser for it so I can buy large but cheap cannisters. €15 for 1,5 Kg. You can find it everywhere in the world in many different packages, like tubes or cans, but the smaller packages tend to be more expensive.

You just mix the two components together, apply it, and after 15 minutes it is hard as a rock. So work fast. If you want it to dry even faster, add more of the harder component, and if you want it to dry slower, add less.

I really dislike 1 component fillers, they're slow to work with and tend to deteriorate very fast. They also shrink when they dry, so it consumes a lot more time to get your work flush.

My personal favorite is Timbermate.  Available locally at Woodcraft or online at Amazon.

Really great product.  Dries fast, minimal shrinkage, and won't bleed through paint.

It's more expensive than some of others but it actually works as advertised and a little goes a long ways.

I've had excellent results with Elmers Wood Filler. It's dries very hard so don't put on more than you need, otherwise you'll end up spending a lot of time sanding it. Sometimes I'll mix Elmers Wood Filler 50/50 with Crawford Vinyl Spackling Paste if I want an easier sanding filler.

I agree with Pnw painter. But instead of a 50/50 mix I use 60/40, in my opinion the result looks better in that way.
