I've been eyeing this for awhile but just couldn't justify the cost.  Well yesterday I broke down a bought it.  I'm really impressed at how well it works.  I purchased the 150 pad to try also and it seems to work without any issues on the 125.  Anyway, it looks like I'll probably be going down this rabbit hole now.

Very nice. I guess you have the 110V edition?

Let me ask you; if you turn the CTL Midi I on (manual mode), then connect your sander, start the sander, let it run a few seconds, then stop the sander... does the CTL Midi I keep running, or does it shut off?

My Midi I shuts off in that case, and it annoys the heck out of me. My CTL 22 and 26 keep running in the same scenario.

Not sure I totally understand the question but if I turn the sander on the MIDI turns on.  If I stop sanding the MIDI will shutdown after a few seconds.

Based on the large HEPA sticker on the box, I'm gonna say this poster is in North America and thus the CTL/CTM doesn't mean anything.

I think there have been a number of posts about the behaviour of the MINI-I/MIDI-I with regards to the functionality of the Manual mode compared to the dial models.  I doubt this unit will act any differently than my MIDI-I when I tested it; it's likely inherent to the electronics board.

Since the MINI-I and MIDI-I have both been discontinued in favor of cordless models, I doubt this behaviour will ever get changed by Festool.

Yes, but what happens when you turn the Midi on manually, then turn the sander on, turn the sander off... does the Midi keep running, or does it shutdown a few seconds later?

No, they haven't been discontinued !?

I keep hoping for a revised board. The behavior of mine is just plain stupid. If you use dust collection adapters like the Festool D 27-bsd or Bosch GDE 68 or 168 (or their equal but differently named imperial equivalent) in combination with a wired drill your dust collection adapter drops to the floor when you stop for a few seconds to remove the center drill from your hollow core bit.

Ok just went out and tried it.  When I turn the MIDI I on manual and then run the sander, then turn the sander off, the MIDI shuts down after a few seconds.

CT 22...keeps running
MIDI...keeps running
MIDI I...shuts off
MINI I...shuts off

If the CT 22 & MIDI are turned on manual mode, anything plugged into the outlet will NOT turn on, only the vac itself operates.

Ha you are right. I apparently didn't use the CTL 22 with suction-attached dust collection adapter for years, if ever (it's "stuck" beneath the CS-50). The CTL 26 does power it's outlet when turned on in manual mode and keeps running regardless of what devices attached to it turn on or off.

So between CTL 22, CTL 26 and CTL Midi-I there are three different behaviors. The CTL-26 having the best, and Midi-I the worst.

Thanks both for confirming. Ref others, there is nothing preventing FT to make a different firmware for the CT 15/Mini/Midi series. It is just they are unlikely to do so unless customers do not complain loud-enough. Changing behavior mid-cycle is a no-no marketing wise.

IMO the current "big" series - CT26/36/48 - will achieve a bit of a legendary status once EOL. More so than the CT11/22/33/44 series even. .. Presuming FT gets rid of the manual dials on the "big" vacs at next refresh, still hoping they do not ..

OT:
Every time I think of which 2nd vac to get, after a couple "ideas" of a CT 15 here and CTL Mini there, I "settle" on a second piece from the CTL26/36/48 series .. then realise the budget is not there for that and so just give up. Been on that "cycle" at least 3 times by now.

The way this is going, inevitably I will grab a CTL 26 at one point to go along my CTM 36 .. aargh!

@OP: Happy sanding!

Or keep your eyes open for an OG CT-MINI/MIDI instead of the -I version.  The 26/36 have the advantage of bluetooth availability, though.

I hope they keep the physical buttons. The Midi I touch buttons are nice, and despite my skepticism they do work with gloves on, but the CTL 26 buttons are still a lot faster.

For some applications I think I should have bought one with AC. There is on on the local used market; a 26 E AC HD, so with flat top and smooth 36mm hose. But I don't really have the floorspace  [sad]

Especially when using the wall chaser it seems the bag clogs up very very fast  [sad]

The funny thing is, that's a horrible way to say that they have "joined the group"
918 people died from "drinking the Kool-Aid"

See also: rabbit hole and broke down. The odd thing is that if you have to sand something, few purchases are more rational than the MIDI and that sander. Welcome to Wonderland OP!

Damn, tough crowd.  Like I stated earlier, I'm impressed with the performance and very happy with the purchase.  As far as the
"Rabbit hole" goes.  I have to admit I'm already eyeing the DTS 400 or maybe the RTS 400.
