Finishing MDO

We are using mdo for the first time. Planning on using Sherwin
Surfacer and Kem Aqua +
Should we spray seal coat first?
How should we start?

Inspect it for flat, correct as needed, spray away. Same process as plywood or MDF. The show surface is just MDF.

KA+ is my primary finish.

Speaking which, I need to order 30 more sheets.
