First Festool and First Project

Hello all, I'm relatively new here and wanted to show a quick picture of my first project using my Rotex 150.

I unfortunately don't have any before pictures, but the workbench was in terrible condition.  Significant amount of dirt and waxy buildup. 

Rotex worked like a boss.  Almost ripped my arms off on a few occasions. 

Finished with a coat of boiled linseed oil.[attachimg=1]

It looks good now. The RO150 is a great sander.

What abrasive did you use?  Any trouble with the waxy build up, building up on the abrasive?

Funny that you mention it.  I did have problems with Granat pads 60-180 grit getting gummed up almost instantly.  My new sander wasn't working at all!  I knew I had to rethink my plan.  I then used the scraper from my bbq and removed a good bit of the debris.  After breaking the scraper from excessive force I needed to try something else.

I then busted out my angle grinder with one of these pads.

That seemed to do the trick to get the debris off the table top.  It was extremely difficult to lift the dirt with the angle grinder and not dig into the top.

After I got the dirt off, I was finally able to reap the rewards of the sander. It worked so well!

[member=19746]Untidy Shop[/member] have you wielded the 125mm flexi strip? I'm curious and I haven't seen these before ... are the new?

... I'm tempted to grab one just to play with!

Kev, obviously you are having a sleepless night too! [big grin]

No I have only used the 3M sand blaster, which is great for stripping paint and muck, and is fairly clog resistant. They are both available in Australia from the big green store.  [smile]

I've seen the 3M but haven't tried that either. I've got a few square metres of peeling plastic paint to strip - will give them a go [wink]

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I was in the mode of "I'm using whatever I have in my garage to get this crap off".  Overall it worked well, but it looks like there are much better solutions.
