Hi,

I am a long time reader on this forum
And have now decided to register. And post my first topic.

I am from the Netherlands. And do woodworking as a hobby. Making furniture for my kids and our house. I am a big festool fan. But because woodworking is not my job, I decides to buy uses tools. I do woodworking in my small garage (6m by 4m) that also holds lots of other stuff (not related to woodworking). When the weather is good I move my tools into the garden and work from there.

I have the following festool tools:
* Kapex 120eb (on a big but very handy makita stand)
* tracksaw ts 55 (fs1400/2 fs10180/2)
* midi vac
* rotex 90
* rotex 150
* bhc 18 (just recently)
* ps 300 jigsaw
* hl 850 planer with stand
* of 1400
* basis plus table with atf 55 saw (and module) and the module for the plungesaw (thinking of selling that module)
* and the hearing Protection from festool (branded isotunes)

And some other tools
* lamello top 10
* makita brushless drill
* bosch pbd40 drill pres
* and many more...

The basis plus (along with some other tools) I bought from a hobbyist nearby, that past away. I never had a table saw. The hobbyist uses it without the guard and dustcap over the blade.

After cleaning it I put the bladeguard and dustcap on. I am a first time table saw user, and bit afraid of having to pick up my own fingers. I know the dustcap wont prevent that but it might help keeping me alert.
Just now I have used it for the first time. Blade is a bit dull, but machine runs nice and smooth. The bladeguard is out of line with the blade. So the wood gets caught up by the guard. I will add some photos later. But would like to know if I can adjust the guard? Guard seems to be at a different angle.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post

Welcome to the group. Using a table saw can be (and should be) intimidating. Serious injuries can result from its use. I think the best thing is to take a class at a nearby woodworking shop or studio to learn proper table saw technique. But there are YouTube videos discussing this.

From your pic, it looks to me that the riving knife is very out of alignment. My novice understanding thinks this is a bad thing but the more knowledgeable here will state this with certainty. I don't know this table but you'll want to align the knife with the blade.

Thanks for the advice. Will be looking at plenty of safety video's and talking to some woodworkers before really using the table saw.

The riving knife (I used blade guard) is in deed out of alignment. I will take it of today and try to get it in alignment.

If there are any tricks or known mistakes that cause this to happen, please let me know. Riving knife looked to be straight when I held it in my hand.

I have found the problem. The riving knife is slightly bend.

Looked the part up. Isn't available anymore. I will go to a local metalworker and see what hé can do.

The local metalshop fixed the issue with the riving knife. Alignment is good.

But as it is with old tools. When I put the riving knife in and tried the saw again. The saw wads not responding. At first I forgot the clamp over the start button. But when I installed that, It still didnt come to live. Last time it was running smoothly (2 days ago)

The basis plus table gave a orange light (don't know what that means).

Took the atf 55 out of the module and tested it again. Didnt work.

Thought it might be a breach in the powercable so took it apart and shortened the cable a bit. Didnt help.

Also took al look at the brushes. They had plenty of live left in them.

Any ideas?
