Hi,

New MFT3 owner, I read a lot about it here before buying and I'm looking for some info.  Just got it today. Putting it together went easy enough and I got it squared up without to much issue ... My question is about the flag stop ....

When I fit it to the rail and move it to where I want it and tighten it down, there's still slop, meaning the black plastic part of the stop wiggles and isn't stationary. It seems odd to me that it moves at all after being tightened down. The slop is in the hole that the threaded rod that goes to the nut on the underside. The hole is larger than the threaded rod and allows the stop to move, just under a 16th or so.  Is this normal?

Thanks for any info :-)

I have at least 20 flag stops, don't recall any moment in any of them. The key and slot should prevent any moment.

Welcome to the forum. I experienced the same and it was an easy fix. Problem is I don't remember what I did to correct it. I will have a look tomorrow and let you know. In the meantime maybe someone with a better memory will chime in.

Make sure the washer is on the top and not on the bottom. I think It was an extra stop I bought from a dealer that was good enough to sell me the one from their display MFT3. IIRC it was set up with the washer under the stop and did the same as you describe.

Thanks both of you ...  I thought it shouldn't move at all ...  when I unpacked the box the square nut was off and I put it back together, i'll look around to see if there were any washers or anything else loose in the accessory box. I've looked at it, stared at it, tightened it , wiggled it, looked at it some more and can't for the life of me find why it's wiggly after i tighten it down lol.

Well lookie what I found  [eek] ...  Thanks Charlie Mac, your Aces  [smile]

You're right. It should not wiggle. Mine did. I'm not 100% sure what I changed but the washer is the only thing I see that I could have changed. I would guess that if no washer is present it still should not wiggle if it tightens. I suppose you could try flipping the nut and/or making sure the stop profile sits flat on the fence. If all else fails, you could take a photo and post it so we can have a look at it.

Without the washer it doesn't pull the black plastic block up into the track to hold it still ... I found and put the washer on and it's working perfect now, thanks again ... :-)
