I sprayed this door awhile ago and the wood changed the paint color. I added strips of poplar around it because it was to small for what I needed. The door is Douglas fir,  it was already painted so it wasn't saveable. I am newer to finishing and have tried using 2Lb cut of shellac to seal areas that I used filler on but when I sprayed a waterbased top coat, it bubbled. I use Sherwin Williams Pro Classic as a top coat. I thought this would work because BIN is a Shellac based finish. What is my best option to stop flash from sap or filler. I also use Shewin williams premiamos wall and wood primer. Thank you.

As far as I know, shellac is for interior finishing and very small areas of exterior finishes.  You can use BIN on knots on outdoor paint projects.

For indoor projects BIN should seal all the resins in the original wood and provide a good grip for any additional finish.

That is all I can offer on the subject.
