Contrary to my expectation when I first bought it, that top seems to last forever.

But it's not regular MDF, it's HDF.

I have wondered how well it would take two part epoxy in the kerfs and such. When I do a project with epoxy there is sometimes some left over and I have considered filling in the kerfs with it but just haven't tried yet. Has anyone doen that?

Yes, I filled some kerfs, but then before it hardened most of it got absorbed.

I also found out when using plastic coffee cups for making epoxy, they start to melt and smoke if you leave too much epoxy in them.

I once made an errant cut into my MFT top. Filled it with two part plastic wood. Let it harden, sanded it down, and no more bad kerf.

I bought my MFT used and it had a boatload of kerfs in the top, some upwards of 1/2" wide.  Replaced it a few years ago, but I used it for 6-7 years after filling the trenches with Durham's water putty.  Stuff worked great, filled, sanded and then slopped on a coat of whatever oil finish was handy.

Yes, was going to ask that too.  I was going rout out a slot 1/2 slot where the kerf marks are and glue in wood strip.
