FOG black book of Tips & Tricks?

I think a moderated Wiki has some merit, maybe. There's still the issue of what tips are wiki-worthy, and what aren't. As I pointed out when I started up this thread, the inspiring moment happened while reading a post about an idea that was over-wrought, and the issue was made simpler by someone who was familiar with an 'old FOG trick.' My concern is that the Wiki will fill with new solutions to problems that were already solved in a simple and elegant way.

And there's still the issue of readability. Sifting through a pile of linked threads, and digging for gold, can be frustrating if you're trying to solve a problem. And it's a really deep rabbit hole to get lost in.

I'm nose deep in another project right now, so this was probably the wrong tome to open my mouth.

The issue that I think I've isolated is that we have archives that are searchable by keyword, but it mostly points us towards a particlar haystack. So my gut feeling is that there are still people out there who are reinventing wheels.

We have a couple of volunteers, besides me, already. I like the idea that it's possible, with effort, to distill the raw info in the archives, and pull out the nuggets that are in there, so we can elevate and level the field a little bit, and push the envelope further. The only issue that's been raised that concerns me is copyright issues, because I don't want well intentioned effort to get torpedoed by potential legal issues.

If we can compile a reasonable summary of lessons learned to date, we have a new baseline from which to launch a Wiki, which could then chronicle ongoing changes.

I am using evernote from evernote.com to create my own private FOG Black book. 

I use evernote in the following manner.  I highlight the information that I want to save.  I give it an index for example festool, festool_projects, festool_projects_bookcase or festool, festool_mfk700_guide_rails.  I then eliminate the unwanted parts.

While evernote is an excellent tool - adding the index directly to the post would then give everyone in the forum added capabilities.  An agreement has to be made on the index to use.

The idea has merit although it is a monumental task.

Overall a great idea.

I looked at evernote and it didn't look like one easily could share notes, unless you go to the pay version. I'd suggest we get a wiki on this site and then use that to add info instead.
