THEY ARE GOING TO HAPPEN!!!

I do not happen to have all the details yet, but start saving up!

I know that it has been quiet here about this FOG wish, but after numerous emails and discussions with Festool USA, - and their investigation and cooperation,  I am proud to announce that we have gotten permission to use key elements and to go ahead with this project.

Thank you Christian for your efforts in clearing the roadblocks!!  Without your assistance this could not be possible.  [thumbs up] [thumbs up]

We are gong forward and I look forward to announcing progress and hopefully pricing and logistics in the near future.

Thank you Foggers for your patience and support.

Details to follow as soon as I get them!

Excitedly,

Fogtainer Pete

Sean,

Do a search for 'Fogtainer' and you'll find the thread with Waynelang's renderings of the final (hopefully) version...

EDIT: Here it is

Yes, the poll winners were:

FOG logo in green;
No logo on the latches.

So, the one on the left of the pic in that thread is essentially the 'final version'.

Here's the pic:

Note: this is waynelang's image. I have just taken it from the other thread & cropped it to show just the sys1.

Peter this is great news, its will be fantastic to see all the hard work you guys put in come to life finally. So i take it Festool gave the go ahead to use there trademark green then ???

I am sorry that I can not offer delivery dates at this point.

I have had some great conversations regarding these even as recently as today, and I so look forward to the time that I can announce the pricing and the rest of the details.  If I am not wrong, you will be shocked in a good way.

As soon as I can I will post.  This could indeed be a once in a lifetime project / purchase.

If you read this and think that I am hyping this to sell;  I'm not.

Stay tuned...

An update.  The costs for having these done in Europe are higher than expected and I am exploring plan B.  Franck gave me today a plan C that is used by many huge corporations.  But plan C is far different than what was illustrated.  Checking on stock in the US.

Updates to follow.

For those of you interested in this project - an update:

I have ordered the systainer to become the printed prototype - code name FOGtainer 1.  I will have this one printed locally by a company that has been in business for more than 100 years and has clients ranging from the US government, to Sharp, Nautica, etc.  I anticipate that I will handle / arrange the packaging and distribution.

Franck (Tanos USA) and Jack Shallow (Japan Woodworker and MySystainer.com) and Christian have made some very special arrangements in order to make this happen.

I can tell you this - we are going swallow up all the dark blue systainers in North America and will have to receive additional from Germany!

What that means is that - because I will want payment up front for the systainers - sorry, I am not going to front 8000 plus US dollars for this project - there will be two batches.  When orders are accepted they will be on a first come basis.  Those who order after the stock in North America is depleted will have to wait for stock to arrive from overseas.

Once the prototype is done, and examined, and approved, and the shipping costs to me have been determined, then I can publish a price - excluding shipping to the end user.  I can honestly say that if the demand is anywhere close to what posters have PM'd me - you will be able to get a Fogtainer for less than a comparable systainer.

Remember, this is only because of all the cooperation from Christian, Franck, and Jack.  Additionally, I am not making a profit.

Stay tuned for a future update!

Thanks for your patience.  It will be worthwhile.

I have much to do on my end now that arrangements have been made.

Peter

Hi Peter,

Great job, and thanks for all your efforts!  Further thanks to Christian, Franck and Jack.

Question:  Previously we sent PMs with interest in specific sizes and quantities of Systainers.  If I'm reading your most recent post correctly, that is not 1) an order, and 2) a firm committment.  Is this correct?  In other words, when orders are announced, that is the real 'ground zero', yes?

I'm not backing out of the amount I previously expressed interest in.. if anything, I think an additional 2-3 may be called for.   [big grin]

These are very cool looking, and this has been an awesome and exciting process to "watch".

Robert,

You are correct in all your understandings.  I have seen these types of things attempted and knew that this would be a lengthy process, so...

We posted the poll - interest was over 256 systainers..

We posted the pictures and asked for more details - the interest was at about 150 systainers.

When the final pricing is announced, I expect that numbers ordered will be somewhere close to the 150 systainers.  Some previously interested members will drop from the radar and others will appear.  The final pricing will determine participation I expect.

There will not be any commitment until orders and money is sent.

This project would not be here if it were not for Wayne and Johnny Round Boy  [thumbs up].  They were the catalyst and spent the hours - in a hope.  Johnny has also repeatedly offered to help with distribution in the UK.  They are the unsung heroes!  [not worthy]

Wait for the ordering post - it will be separate.  The US stock will go fast.  The nice aspect, if there is one, is that the second phase will know how great they are as they are waiting for theirs to arrive!

Again,

Thanks for your support and patience.

Peter - just a part of the Fogtainer Team
