fogtainer vac sys

I am also very interested in the vac sys unit, and am also in the market for a vacuum pressing setup. So last night I figured could you not just buy the actual festool clamp from europe and hook it up to a vaccum pump from a pressing system?  From my research the festool clamp blows all others outta the water, and you'd be avoiding the dreaded 240V conversion.  Good luck if its a cheaper option with enough vaccum id build one.

Long time listener first time poster. I can't wait to see what you come up with. I'be been building my festool arsenal for a little bit when I stumbled on video with the domino and had to find out about it. To find that it was the price of a small car. :'(  So needless to say I am very interested in you project. I did see a few plans and kits for pumps on Veneer Supplies. Good luck I can't wait to see what you can up with.

well worked on the vac clamp a little and tried to upload the pic but something not working so i will try again later

ok so where was i once you mount the drill press pivot arm (in red) on the base you need to cut the cover to allow the tube that holds the cup mainifold to slide in
to do this i used a 2.5" hole saw and a 12" pilot bit so it could be cut from both sides of the angled body.
it should look like this and screw the cover to the base

try to keep it all in line if only for cosmetic reasons.

this know has good and substantial  mass you will need this when working on projects
boring~1.JPG
the manifold is made out of aluminum blocks bolted together in a right angle.
you don't need to be a machinist for this part just a drill press.i used a 15/8" bi metal hole saw and a little lube slowly bore it out.

then if you cut it in the middle of the hole its now a clamp that can be tighten on the tube. like this.

.stay tuned for the next step on the clamp vacuum fittings and lines.
i will say this i do this stuff with my eyes shut all day but the most frustrating part of this build is posting it sometimes i think i'm going to explode [bite tongue] timed out internet lost .what the h!#* could happen next [tongue]

wow after reading this i hope you guys don't judge me on my grammer i have two kids one in each ear askiing, saying ,crying, timed out, lost connection.
when i regain my sanity i will try to clairify things if any one needs it. [dead horse]
