Hi Guys.

Today I had a "Huh experience"  [blink]

Received a leaflet from a danish warehouse selling all kinds of low price stuff. From tooth paste to lawn movers...including non professional power tools.

They announced a new brand in power tools: FORD

Have you ever heard of Ford power tools? ???

Kind regards
Henrik

I think the motorcompany doesn't like the (ab)use of its Logo.

The old kids joke of car ACRONYMS pops up: F.O.R.D.: Fix Or Repair Daily.

Never heard of them before. I had the same experience when I first saw Peugeot power tools. Both the Ford and Peugeot tools look like they're some cheap generic Chinese imports with a logo slapped on them.

But it's a huge trend for international conglomerates to branch out to different fields lately. Always trying to get an even bigger piece of the pie.

We always went with Found On Rubbish Dump

In the early days of Japanese machine imports there was a 'Chincinatti' milling machine. Talk about lost in translation. A chinese Festool knockoff might be 'TesFool', implying something about anyone gullible enough to buy .

' Found On Road Dead '

was the one I enjoyed yellin' at the Ford Fanboi's @ those long ago mid-nite street drags of my youth !

I think that the real Ford Motor Company would pay the "big bucks" to spell "Marble" correctly. Also, in the USA we most often see the prefix "555" used in the movies and on TV for fictional phone numbers. Telephone systems here traditionally use it "in real life" only for the "information" service...555-1212. This Wkipedia article  describes a smattering of other legitimate uses, but an internet search on 555-5555 shows many abuses of that number, probably from spoofing the caller ID.

The brand Peugeot for example is as toolmaker for woodworkers more then 150 years old, they made saws,  chisels, planes and many other woodworker-tools. Later when they made cars, they made tools as well for steel and metal purposes.
I have a splendid lightweight-router from this brand, bought in 2001 and it is manufactured in Herimoncourt France where the cars were build.
So maybe the same history works out for FORD.
I hope thius brings you closer to your answer.
Sorry for my bad English, i am Dutch.
