Forum not working properly with Firefox

FYI...FOG will not let me login or view posts using Firefox.  If I click on something, it stays at the "board name" view.  It has been this way off and on for a couple of days now.

However, it works fine using Chrome.

Just tested with Firefox v.31 on Windows 7, no issues.

Have you tried clearing your cache and cookies?

And I just logged in and am posting this with Firefox 31.0 on the Mac.

Still doesn't work.  What causes this to happen?  Seems like this happened once before awhile ago?

Made any recent changes to Firefox? Configuration changes or add-ons?

The forum is not browser-specific in any way. So, if it's working for you in Chrome, it should work in Firefox.

There's something going on with your Firefox...

Cleared the cache again, closed Firefox and reopened.  Works now.

No, have not changed anything.  Oh well.  Just one of those mysteries of life, I guess.    [unsure]  Or, somebody's trying to tell me to get back to work.  [scared]

Glad it's sorted out.

In the future, you can do basically the same thing as clearing the cache by doing a Ctrl+F5 in you browser on Windows. This forces the browser to load everything on the page, even if it's cached.

It keeps happening.  F5 does not work and I would rather not close my browser because I will lose the other tabs I have open.  No other website that I use has this problem.  So, it must be something unique to FOG.  Guess I'll switch to Chrome for FOG.

Same thing happens with FoxNews on Firefox.

Go to Firefox/Preferences/Advanced - Clear Caches
Then...
Firefox/preferences/privacy/selectively clear cookies - Clear all FOG cookies.

After that, all should work just fine.

Cheers,

Frank

Thanks, but that didn't work either.  I don't get it.  I didn't change anything and I am the only one that has access to this computer.  Why would it all of a sudden stop working?

Closing the browser does work, but I don't know if it was just that or if it requires both clearing the cache & cookies plus closing the browser that works.

In either case, I don't want to close the browser every time this happens.

There was a recent update to Java... ensure you have Java running.  Can you open and login with another browser on the same computer?  Try updating Java, restart the browser and see if that helps.

Chrome works.  Yes, I bet it does have something to do with Java, because I have been getting that update message.

The forum does not use Java. So you can access the forum without Java at all.

Our electronic parts catalog, called EKAT, uses Java however.

Yeah, I just clicked on update Java and it said that I already have the most recent version installed.

It has been working since I closed and reopened my browser, so I'll let you know if it happens again.

Per our email exchange, I'm still quite confident the problem is related to your Firefox blocking cookies.

But, what setting is left to try?
