I hope Frank won't mind me mentioning this. I've just finished re-reading his incredibly detailed and interesting account of his workshop build, and I really recommend if you haven't read it you check it out; if you're anything like me you'll find it fascinating to follow the construction of someone else's shop, and when it's in as much detail as this one it's better than most books on the subject.

You can download it as a pdf from:    http://familywoodworking.org/forums/showpost.php?p=20060&postcount=20

As it happens, I stumbled across this a year or so ago and it got me started on my own woodworking journey.

Hope you enjoy it.
Rick
ps I've said it before but I'll say it again...Frank's the MAN.

Yes - that brought back memories of watching Frank in the planning and implementation of his workshop.

He gave me plenty of ideas as well.

And continues to do so -

Frank,

I had not seen your shed.  Well done!  [thumbs up] [thumbs up] [thumbs up]

Mac,

Thanks for bringing this to us again.  [thumbs up] [thumbs up]

Thanks for the compliments Mac.  Every now and then I am contacted by someone who has read my "Story of a Woodworking Shed" journal has found it to be of use.  As anyone who has read the journal knows, I had lots and lots of help from my friends on the internet when I was building the place and it is good to know that in recording this "story" I have been of help to others.

I've been in Frank's workshop quite a few times, and must say it is an exempliary job he's done.  It was at his shop that I was more or less really properly introduced to Festool via Hafele rep's who were presenting Festool to myself and about 15 other fellows.  That's where I stopped focusing on the price tag, and started realizing the value added benefits of this line of ingeneously integrated line of equipment.  If I never said it before, THANKS FRANK.  And thank you for your generosity all around.  You are a true benefactor in many aspects.  [not worthy] [thanks]

Thanks Kevin.

And thanks for reminding me of the demo.  Marc St Pierrre of Hafele demoed the complete line of Festool stuff available in North America and he did a great job.  Most of the people that I invited to my workshed had never seen Festool tools before and I know that eventually many Festool items found their way into the possesion of a lot of these (converted) folks.

Here are a couple of photos taken at the event.

The first one still amazes me.  Somehow  ??? I managed to move the tools in my crowded workshed aside in able to provide the space needed for the demo:

The second photo shows Marc demoing.  That is Kevin right behind smiling (about all the money he will eventually spend  [big grin]) on Festool.
