I was just thinking this morning how neat it would be if Festool just started giving us tools.
Oh Yeah!! They are!!!
Six sanders at about $200 per,
$1200 of merchandise.

Brent,
Thanks for your post! Hey, if this doesn't work, people can never say they didn't get a chance for free Festool tools! I think it's fair to give it another week or two.
Matthew
I for one want to wholehearteldly encourage Festool to give us more free stuff. They seem willing to throw us guys bones but I'm going to guess that they're going to want to see a little bit of excitement and activity, maybe I'm wrong on this.
I'm wondering if people are reluctant to compete with one another?
People?

Yes, this idea won't go without more activity. But I always leave open the possibility that perhaps there's something wrong with the concept. I'm open to member feedback on this.

I suppose it could be seen as competition. But really, it encourages people to write creative posts. It also encourages members to find already-written great posts and bring them forward with new life, no matter how long ago the posts were written.
Also, as far as contests go, I like this concept, which awards people for quality posts. This is better than a simple raffle, which is just about luck. To win, you have to do something worthy of a Festool tool!
I don't disagree with the concept here - merely throwing out an observation.
The odds of winning anything are highly skewed towards a handful of forum members. Most newbies would have almost zero chance of winning as we're still trying to figure out how to do the basics with our new tools.
That said I, I don't have a problem with those who do have the creative or informative posts having better odds. The assistance from the posts are invaluable.

Fred,
The idea is to create more activity. Yes, it's true that members who have already done a great job posting are the ones who will win. But people who are still new at this have something to aspire to. And in all cases, it provides opportunities for everyone to get more involved in the great posts.
But you do raise an interesting point. I think it would be best to extend the deadline for the contest winners. Rather than July 10, I think it should go longer, say to August or September 10th. This would give more people an opportunity to post something new, which could be considered for the contest.
Actually, I should be posting this in the Topic Contests discussion! I'll do that now.
