From zero systainers to eighteen in two years

I never dreamed I would end up with 18 systainers back when I bought the TS55, RO125, CT22, and Domino a couple years ago.

I have always stored most of my tools in drawers, and seldom even kept any case the tool came in.  I do not have to transport my tools, so the cases were a waste.

After whacking a sysport together with some scrap MDF based on pictures from here on the FOG, I have come to like the utility and organization of the systainer.  The new T-Locs are even better.  Now I gotta get busy and complete my design for a storage bench to hold them all.  If I can fit a cubbyhole in the back to hold my small air compressor, I think it will be a neat system.  I may make a some of the trays deep enough to hold 2 systainers, say a sander in the back and the abrasives in front. With 5 Festool sanders now, that might be handy.

I've gone from one to about fifteen in the space of about 4 months. They are pretty darned good and like everything Festool very addictive. Luckily or unluckily only two of the 14 recent ones came with Festool toys inside.

I bet it helps to be a Festool dealer!  As a carpenter I am about 50% systainerized, I go back and forth on the value of taking it all the way.

So Mikey, what is the name of your company?  Do you have a brick & mortar store or just sell online?

Huh! Did not know I was labeled as a "Festool Dealer" here.  I have mentioned  in passing in a previous post that I was retired, and work part-time at a Woodcraft store to help feed the hobby.  I do not consider myself as a representative of Woodcraft or its products in this forum.

Oye... I am shocked writing this and thinking through the stacks in my head.
In a bit under 3 years, I've gone from zero to ... almost 40.  [blink]  Of these, five areFOGtainers.
Plus 2 Sortainers and now 1 Racktainer.  And 6 Minis (I really like the Sys Mini II size)

3 Systainers store non-tools.
Several of them store non-Festool things (nail guns, special clamp accessories, my compact drill set, Fein MM, etc.)

No wonder my bank account seems hollow.    [wink]
Everytime I buy one, I can't help but thinking "Most expensive box of air ever." But they are so darn useful.  And having now built four "Systainer condos" they are so accessible and organized.  The organization adds so much to the efficiency of making things.  I knocked out building two cabinet carcases in 2 nights after work.

I feel like such a loser. I've only got 14 and I've been at it for 3 years now ........  [sad]

Still mad though my CS70 didn't come in a systainer.  [mad]

[wink]

Went from one, to about 15 in two years.  About to double down, since I want to replace all of my classic systainers with t-locs.  I find myself cursing at the classic ones throughout the day ever since I got a few new tools in t-locs...

Jon

I'm with you on the cursing of the classic systainers, the t-locs are so much easier and nicer. I will be slowly changing them all to the t-locs myself.

What I really like about the T-Locs is the ability to open them one-handed, say while holding a sander, you can open one up, grab a piece of abrasive, and stick it right on the sander.

When you get one T-loc, it's nice. But when you get two or more T-locs... That's when it hits you. Getting at the bottom tool in a stack is super easy!  Stacking 4-5 t-locs is fast.  Now you have compact storage AND fast access!!!  Love 'em!

I'm going to switch out all my most used tools to T- locs.

Dan.
