Fuji Gxpc air leak

Received a new Rolair JC-10 yesterday, very nice!  I was checking it for any possible leaks.  I have a 3m mini-regulator made for use on a HVLP using a compressor.  The JC-10 is way too small for that use but I do have a much larger one that would work.

I attached the regulator to a Gxpc at 10psi and I could hear air leaking from the air cap.  I've read that HVLP system aren't designed to be leak free so I first thought this might be normal till I tried my other Gxpc and it didn't leak.  Both guns are less than a year old and not used that many times.

If I were using my Q4 Gold, I'd never hear this small leak.  Anyone ever see anything like this before?

I know there is a two year warranty but it has to be shipped back or taken to a service center.  I did email my contact at Fuji, maybe they can tell me which parts are defective.

Where do you attach this regulator? On the cup or on the gun?

I have never tested my system for leaks. Frankly I don't care. If it stopped working I would inspect it. I did replace the whip hose because there was a small hole in it, but the system still functioned well with the leak. As has been aptly demonstrated in other threads it's not a big deal.

At the gun, it has the HVLP style quick disconnect on the output side and a industrial quick disconnect on the input for a compressor.

I wasn't really testing the gun for leaks but just stumble on this.  If I would have used the other gun, I'd would have never seen this.

I can see not caring about leak before the gun but inside the gun too?  It "might" be meaningless and affect nothing but never the less it's leaking.

I'll have to check that out. Thanks for the heads up.

Actually when I first got my XPC siphon gun I did notice that there was a leak at the rear barrel plug. Bugged me for a second...then I remembered I needed to finish spraying so I could deliver my project on time.
Hasn't been a problem.

That's a 3m 36-00.

Yeah, I noticed that on one of my Gxpc's and just tightened the plug up.

I found the air leak problem, a combination of poor engineering and practices. If you remove the turbine air inlet fitting and handle on the Gxpc you see a 3/8" pipe nipple.  The inlet fitting is "supposed" to seal the the air coming in and draw the handle up against the gun body.  The tapped hole in the body and the air inlet fitting have a shoulder.  For one neither seal properly.  There is another tapped hole into the gun body just forward of the pipe nipple.  It's a straight thread with a plug but it's loose on both of my guns.  If the pipe nipple leaks at either end the air builds up inside the handle and forces by the loose threads of the plug making its way to the air cap.  It's so loose you can easily turn it with your finger nail!  It can't fall out because it's rather long and with hit the handle.  In theory, it could move inward till it falls inside the gun.

The second gun did have a very tiny leak because of the pipe nipple.  I used Teflon tape on the both ends of the pipe nipple and the plug.  No leaks anywhere that I could hear.

None of my guns leak at/from the air cap. 10 psi is not much more than the Q4 delivers to the gun.

My pot is connected for fluid delivery only, air cap is supplied via the turbine.

Pressure only isn't the point here, it's 10psi delivered quietly.  Don't think anyone could hear the leak I was referring to while a turbine is running nearby unless it was in a sound proof room.

I've had my turbine outside while spraying. Couldn't hear the turbine.

No signs/sounds of a leak.

Your's was assembled when QC was better I guess.  Mine are leak free now.
