HI guys,

I recently purchased a q tech t3 hvlp turbine and gun. As with most budget turbines the gun that came with this was a cheap nasty one where the fan adjustment broke after 2 uses.

I'm after buying a gravity fed either fuji T75 or Apollo a7500gt gun. Does anyone have any experience using either of these guns, especially on a 3 stage turbine.

Any helps appreciated,
Thanks Tom

I have not used the Fuji T75. I do have an Apollo 7500QT. I have a lot of trouble getting consistent results with it.
I spray mostly oil base poly. The main problem is getting the gun clean after use & the adding face that the check valves fail often. When the check valve fails, finish will backup the small air tube between the cup & gun & get into the air passages of the gun. It is difficult to always know that happens until the gun does not spray properly or not at all.

The only way to completely clean the gun is to completely take it apart & soak it in gun cleaner. There are lots of parts & they have to go back together exactly right.

After getting bad results on my last job, I went back to using my old Apollo 5000 gun. It is a bleeder gun, so finish backing up into the cup air line is not as much of a problem. It does not spray quite as well as the 7500 when the 7500 is working perfectly, but the 5000 is always consistent. It has very few parts & is easy to take apart & reassemble. I completely disassemble it after each use.

Thanks for your reply.

Thats why i'm after getting a gravity fed gun due to it being a bit easier to clean after use.

Seems as though most of your issues with the gun then is due to cleaning of it. There doesn't seem to be many reviews on the Apollo gun so good to get some feedback on it.

I have the Apollo 7500 with gravity fed cup. Use mine with a compressor and very happy with it. I've used it with oil based fence stain, water based acrylic and 2 pack polyurethane wood and automotive finishes. The only problems I've had have been operator error; incorrect reassembly after cleaning.
I haven't used the Fuji.

I have 3 Fuji guns, 2 XpcG and the T-70. All have served me well for many years.

If you want easier to clean after use look into the 3m PPS PACKAGES from Homestead Finishing or most auto finish suppliers. It allows the cup  to be cleaned in no time, throw away or seal up a liner, and then you only have to clean the gun itself. The other nice thing unlike a gravity feed is that it feeds regardless of how you hold the gun sideways, upsides down, anything you get the exact same flow. I love mine.

+1 on the PPS by 3M. I love it for the ease of cleanup and as said previously, it works inverted if necessary.

I purchased a turbine and gun setup from American Turbine in St. Paul, MN and love it too. The customer service has been very good as I am new to spraying. They offer the PPS system as well.

Thanks for the input ordered a fuji T75 in the end today.

Same you can't get the 3m cup inserts for the gravity fed guns. I much prefer gravity fed many due to being a bit smaller too.

Thanks for that Harvey, will certainly look into them.

Gun came today and already looks much more solid then my last one. Will give it a go tomorrow.
