I'm currently selling my TS55 here: http://www.usedvictoria.com/classified-ad/Festool-TS55_13880420
Just got an email from the following address: tooexpensive@festool.com  [eek]  Telling me that the price is too high... Well, yes, I'm asking $600 for it, but I payed (including taxes) well over $900 for everything... Therefore I don't feel bad at all [smile]

Shane, is this email address known to you? Just wondering...

Thanks!

It's super easy to spoof an email 'from' address.  Depending on your mail client, you might be able to see the mail headers to see where it came from.  Not that it matters cuz we all know that's Shane's other email address...  Some mail programs will include a header (x-apparently-from: IIRC) that indicates the from address of the sending account.

Hmm, funny. Like Paul mentioned, it's fairly easily to fake the from address on an email. I would just ignore it. It's guaranteed not to be a legit festool.com email address.

Well that is more than isn't

900.00 CAD =  906.00 USD

600.00 CAD = 604.53 USD

I am all for selling the tools, but that does seem high to me. Break it down for the saw alone, what would the TS55 alone cost at that price? They are 500.00 new and I saw some new ones not through a dealer for 419.00. So 400.00 for the saw at the most if it is pristine condition ? And then the accessories, which are usually 50% used. 85% to 90% not used, but sold second hand. So maybe a bit on the high side?

You can't take the current exchange rate... Festool doesn't calculate prices that way... The saw alone would go for $635 Plus all the extra bits and pieces, plus 12% sales taxes and you end up at around $900! Therefore, I think $600 for the package is not a bad deal! Selling the saw without the bits is not really an option... It's not easy to sell everything separate! I will leave it online as it is and see what happens. Around here Festool is still fairly new and almost impossible to find any of them used therefore I have to give it time for the word to spread!

WOW they charge 635.00 for that saw in Canada? I would be calling my friend across the border, hehe.

All I can say is good luck selling the stuff ,only you know what your area will bare. I have had unbelievable success selling stuff separate on the forum, I'll consider myself lucky.  :)

I do still think  my calculations of 50% for used accessories and 85%-90% for second hand new and at least 100.00 off the saw is a good rule for Festool.

One thing about online purchases is I do not pay the 10% tax and a lot of people that see a tool online are going to think that way, they are online buyers. Not sure how the online tax works in Canada though.

Like I said, the person who emailed you probably had no idea about Canadian pricing.  If your costs where 900 including taxes and all, then your price of 600 sounds most reasonable if it is all in good to excellent shape.  Good luck with you sale.

While you have to pay more for so many things where you live, I also have to pay a bundle more for things I purchase from your country too.  Back in 2006 I purchased some wood from a place north of you on the island, and was very shocked at all the fees and such that I had to pay once it arrived.  Really shocked.  No repeat orders from me.  You and I don't live that far apart, yet were $$$$$$$$$$s away...
