This has been a long project.  27' wall is now covered completely with a french cleat system.  I used 1/2" melamine over the beat up drywall and covered that with strips of 3/4" oak plywood to create the french cleats.  3/4" solid oak for the top and bottom trim.  Cabinets are made from 3/4" melamine.  Oak finish is General Finishes Arm-R-Seal in satin.

Tools used.  TS55req, OF1400, LR32, parallel guides, Kapek

(Sorry, the photos didn't load in the order that I put them)

I'll try and load the before and after photos again, they are pano sized so maybe those won't load.

This is the after photo......................

Note to self - Keep my wife from seeing this thread or she'll have a new project for me!  [tongue]

Awesome job.  Thanks for sharing.

Looks good  [thumbs up]...huge difference between the before and after shot. [big grin]

Noticed the hot & cold water faucet for washing the car I assume, but I didn't see any drains. Do you just squegee the water out the garage door?

Nice work! I've been planning to overhaul my garage, and you may have just inspired me to take it to another level. (I'm blaming you if anything goes bad!  ;) )

I like that, great idea well executed, hope you don't mind if I copy. Thanks for sharing.

Wow - great project and it looks super. I need to look at doing something like this!

Combine this with a systainer drawer module and you've got a winner [wink]

The systainer drawers are on the other wall......................

My inspiration came from other posts on FOG, in particular this image from user John H.
Pretty easy to get excited about projects with all of the great ideas here.

Can someone explain the construction, i.e. how does the cleat work ?.  Is there a narrow board behind the face board ?

Thanks.

As does Frank Howarth, with great timelapse video

This video was another good inspiration for me.  I first thought I was going to do commercial slatwall in PVC but that would have been alot more money ($1500) what I ended up with was half that cost including the four cabinets that I built to hang on the wall.
