I've been meaning to post for a couple of weeks now, Gary Katz wrote about his recent Fine Homebuilding article on building corbels for an Italianate mirror frame on his site. Gary talks about architecture he's seen on his travels around the US and how it's influenced his work. He shows how he designs and lays out a pediment with corbels and goes through how he made the corbels. Gray has coupled writing and videos to help us get the full picture of how works. There are plenty of Festool tools too. Check out Gary's article here.

If you have any interest in finish carpentry or you just like watching videos of skilled craftsmen you'll enjoy Gray's article.

hi thanks for posting this link, first time ive heard of this guy, i have just descovered the link to his webpage with online magazines that will keep me busy  [big grin]

I saw that last week, the pediment he makes in the video is rather sloppy.

I don't know if it was because he was in a hurry for the video, or what.

Yeah, that pediment he makes on his Road Show. He's probably made that same pediment a thousand times to demonstrate the techniques. He was likely running on auto-pilot for the video.

Gary will be hosting a Finish Carpentry clinic this summer at our store.  We're very excited to say the least.  Thanks for sharing that article
