As a professional, you'll want to attend the Katz Roadshow before your competition does! The  Katz Roadshow is a great (and completely free) opportunity for you to see industry leaders put Festool power tools to the test in real-world applications, while demonstrating methods to increase competency and proficiency.

Sign up today for an upcoming Roadshow event in your area at http://www.katzroadshow.com.

3/1  Siewers Lumber & Millwork  Richmond, VA
3/3 Marvic Supply Horsham, PA
3/5 Loudoun Lumber Purcellville, VA

4/12  HJ Opdyke Frenchtown, NJ
4/14  TW Perry Rockville, MD
4/16  Allegheny Millwork Pittsburgh, PA

I'll be at the show in Pittsburgh, PA. Here's something to add.

  • 3/1    Siewers Lumber & Millwork    Richmond, VA
  • 3/3    Marvic Supply    Horsham, PA
  • 3/5    Loudoun Lumber    Purcellville, VA
These are the finish carpentry shows with Gary Katz.

  • 4/12  HJ Opdyke    Frenchtown, NJ
  • 4/14  TW Perry    Rockville, MD
  • 4/16  Allegheny Millwork    Pittsburgh, PA
These shows are on frame to finish carpentry with Mike Sloggatt.

I'd strongly recommend you check out these shows when they come to your area. They're a lot of fun and you'll learn something. Don't be intimidated if you're not a pro. Sit up front for a good view and enjoy the show.

Why does Katz seem to shy away from NYC?
Whenever there is a Roadshow nearby Gary is elsewhere.
I know Sean says Tool Nut is a "NYC Metro area store" but I live in NYC
and that store is over 70 miles from my house.

I'm just griping because I do want to see the show.....

Michael,

Gary is always looking for new locations for the roadshow events.  He partners with various lumber yards and retailers to sponsor these events.  If you have a suggested location, just shoot Gary an email or PM.  He has an account here on the forum.

I get frustrated at the fact that the Roadshow is two separate tours
with somewhat different subjects. Mike and Frank will get as close as
40 miles from me when they go to Ace Tool but I'm not so interested in framing.
The closest Gary will get with his finish carpentry demo is 70 miles.

I'm aiming to see Gary's show next week in PA (80 miles away but close to a good friend).

Okay, okay! Michael, where do you live? Next year, I'll do a show at your house.
But seriously, give me the name of a top-notch lumberyard or dealer near you and we'll try to place a show there next year.
Mike will be at Ace Tool in another month.
The week after next, I'll be at Riverhead on Long Island. Now that can't be so far from NY, huh?

That's my point Gary, Mike will be at Ace and you'll be at Riverhead,
which is about twice as far away from the city. Riverhead is about 93 miles
from me. New York miles, which are longer than miles elsewhere.

I wish I knew a good venue around here. Our good Staten Island lumberyard closed
after something like 130 years of operation.

I'm trying to get to your PA show Wednesday.

Gary,

Any chance of doing something north of the border? There is a great lumberyard called Bois Franc Rive Sud and also a good woodwork shop called Langevin & Foret in the Montreal area.

In Ottawa there is of course a huge Lee Valley tools, perhaps that would be of interest?

I always look at your roadshow schedule and would definitely come to upstate New York or Vermont to see you, but I am sure there would be many interested Canadians who would sign up if you passed by.

Richard.

Just got back from the Gary Katz Roadshow event in Richmond, Virginia today.  Great event.  Gary, the dealer - Siewers Lumber, and Festool were very kind to allow me to take some video and photos.  Gary Katz makes learning fun.  Super guy.  Also spent quite a bit of time with Jordan Haire, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Sale Manager at the Festool display.  Got to play and spread the word about the FOG.  Also got to inform some attendees about the system when Jordan was busy with other attendees.  Michael, the President of Siewers is going to arrange for a private tour of the entire place and let me shoot additional video and photos.

Todays show was the first of the new season, so look for the show and go.

Gary did mention in his show that he has hundreds of dealers each year who ask to host this event.  We've been lucky here to have been included for three years in a row.  When you see the videos of the facility, you'll understand why.  Anyone would kill to have a lumberyard and dealer like this in their town.

Shane,

Good things come to those who wait.  What did you get for Xmas?  [poke] [poke]

Peter

I'm looking forward to the pictures and video and I've already seen Gary's show. I too spent some time chatting Jordan while at Gary's show last year. Nice guy and he really took time to show the benefits of the tools to anyone interested. And I can wait for the pictures/video, well, at least for a little while. [poke]

Thank goodness there is not any pressure here.  By the way Brice, you were spoken about in very high regards.  I can't post here what I heard because it might cause an ego to develop  [eek].

You're going to make me blush. [embarassed] As for an ego, I hope I never become one of those guys. I recently made a joke about in another thread about one of my reviews, someone took it as patting my own back. Not my style.

BTW, there wasn't any pressure on the pics and video until I took a look at the yard's website, not I can't wait to see the inner working of this place. So get your butt in gear. ;D

For those reading this, Brice and I are joking.  Brice once had an ego but he sold it in order to buy his first Festool.  Since then he has worked to make this place what it is.

I'll work on the videos, but it will take time.

The 12,000 square foot warehouse space was a little bit cold today.  I couldn't even take off my shirt and reveal my custom made FOG shirt.  Rats.  But I did hand out FOG business cards!

Peter

Peter,
Did you get any video of me planing that door with the vac hose wrapped around my neck? Some of the guys on the JLC forum would love to see that! Those guys at Siewers in the front row gave me some great advice on where to place the vac, and later in the week that part of the presentation sure went a lot smoother once I move the vacuum to the MY SIDE of the door!!!!!
Gary

Gary,

I will look and see.  If so, I will will post a link to you tube over there also. Thanks again for your hospitality.  It was a great time.

Peter

Anyone planing to go to the Road Show in Pittsburgh on Friday? I'll be there, PM me if you'd like to meet up there.

I see your from the So Cal area. Is there a schedule for the road show in Southern Calif?

I have seen Danny Demos at the local Rockler. Prompted me to buy a Domino.  Is the road show more detailed?
