I've just posted 2 new threads, HERE and HERE.

In both, the software seems to be changing the GBP pound sign into a question mark. Why is this?

Most likely the forum server is using a character set that doesn't support non-ASCII characters.

Jonny,

Have a look at the Posting So Everyone Can Read It thread.

I doubt anything can be done to resolve the funny character problem, where "funny character" depends on the location of the writer, the server, and the reader.

I've tried to remember to use USD instead of "$".  Probably more important is for Yanks to use metric, so the rest of the planet understands us.

OK. Read and absorbed. I'll use GBP from now on...  ;D

Don't give up hope!  I've posted this question to the SMF technical board, and people there say the special characters should be showing up.  So I just need to figure out why they are not showing up here.

I'll figure this out.
