German supply run

I've been thinking about getting this for my coming CMS setup but think a straight cutter with a greater depth from CMT would both be cheaper and more useful.. It would not be as economical in the long run but for now I think the straight cutter being about 1/4 the price makes more sense for jointing.

I don't see the appeal of cutter with replaceable knives unless you have a set of them with different profiles or using a custom profile. For simple straight cuts nothing beats solid carbide spiral cutters.

And they get dull so you have to get them sharpened or buy a new one. For rabbiting I like this bit a heck of a lot more

Heres what Im talking about. Its in my CMS VL.

Im going to show it off at my BBQ Sat. It really is a Kool bit.

Replacement knives also get dull, perhaps even faster due to great impact vs slicing action of the spiral, needing replacement or sharpening. These large cutters have excellent feed rate, but spirals are cleaner cutting and chatter free.

Guess it boils down to personal preference. I have both and perfect the replacable blades to a spiral.  You think differently.

That's ok. If we were all the same we'd all be LFC supporters and it would be boring because they would have a team to play right?
