This is a cradle I made for the grandchild of my best friend.
We are going to surprise them with it tomorrow after Easter dinner.

Thank the good Lord for the Domino. ::) ::) If I had to do the 150 or so mortice and tenons on this thing I never would have finished.

Its made from canary wood that I scored about 3 years ago when the mill my son worked at was getting rid of all the exotic wood.
The base it African Mahogany. Finished with tung oil and some poly.

If you would like to see more you can look here. Any comments would be appreciated.

Very nice; I like it.  Also like the rocking mechanism; I have always preferred those mechanisms.

Also love the canarywood; I have a big stash of it.  I can tell you have had yours for awhile as it has mellowed to the really nice tones.  Mine was pretty fresh when I first got it and it was very bright yellow, red, brown, etc.

Really nice wood [cool], especially for this project. I like the finish very much, it compliments the figures and grain [thumbs up].

Very nicely done!  And +1 for the Domino on projects like this, it would probably take 100 times longer to make all of those tenons & mortises by hand.  Probably 10 times using a router & table saw.

Fantastic Cradle,,The Canary Wood is beautiful and the finish is awesome.
What a great gift for a friends Granchild

Happy Easter

What a great gift and you did a fantastic job.  The domino is a life saver for those applications.  I had to do 9 windows worth of plantation shutters a few years ago and the 72 mortises I had to cut would've taken a long time with anything but the domino.
