Good quality dial caliper recommendation?

I have a couple digital calipers but I am kinda tired of always changing the batteries.  So I am wondering of any recommendations of a good quality dial caliper that will not brake the bank.

I have a number of Starrett tools but chose Mitutoya for my calipers.  No regrets and definitely worth checking out.

Starrett all the way. I like the black face red dial versions. You should also buy a reference at the same time. Owning a precision measuring instrument without one is kind of pointless.

Sell what you've got and get the Mitutoyo solar powered digitals.....

Or buy a harbor freight digital caliper and use the money you save to buy a few spare batteries.  I bought one for $15 and it agrees w/ my Mitutoyo calipers within .001" over the entire range.  And I get batteries at zbattery.com for less than a buck a piece.

Try Fowler, or Enco for lower priced items.
From J&L Industrial Catalog, item# 63722078- Fowler Dial Caliper, appox. $64

I go along with you, between changing batteries and always having to push the button to wake the caliper up I just use a dial caliper 90% of the time. All of my machinists tools are Starrett except for the calipers. There's a lot of stuff on Ebay to choose from.

This is the smoothest caliper I've ever used, a true delight. Made in Switzerland.

This one is nice because it measures both imperial and metric. Made in Germany.
