Goon price on router bits on Amazon

Do you like 'em, Bill?

I bought one of their "Master Dado Sets" in 1/2" shank at the AWFS show and only recently used the 25/32" bit. Even with the OF1400 and edge guide, it was wandering all over the place. The dadoes were seriously bad, so I bought a Whiteside to replace it.

Of course, that bit gave a perfect cut without any extra effort on my part.

I'm going to call Woodline and have them replace the bit to see if there's any difference. I was very pleased at paying $40 for the set, but after using it...not so much. Hopefully the new bit will make a difference.

My view is you get what you pay for. I am not sure that I would use any cut rate bit on wood that I use. Think about this: "The most expensive bit it the one that doesnt work."

I'm liking the 13 pc. 1/2" Freud bit set I bought from Amazon US. Your jaw would drop if I told you the price difference between there and AU.

Well, Woodline replaced the bit, no questions asked and no shipping charged. So, it appears to have either A) been a bum bit or B) possibly have been thrown out of whack by me attempting to plunge with it.

It was very convenient for me since I needed to order a pattern bit anyway and the tech rep picked out a great top bearing dado bit for what I was doing. That bit works beautifully and was shipped free since they were sending a warranty replacement anyway.
