Graco handheld problem

I’m having a issue with my graco handheld sprayer and hoping someone can help me out. When I first start spraying everything is fine but after a few passes it starts spitting . I have cleaned everything but still spitting. I took out outlet valves to clean and when you put them back in they are supposed to have a 3/16 gap but when I put them back in and tighten the valves they go back to no gap. Please help novice painter.

Which seal do you use? The black or the yellow one?

I switched to the yellow (for solvents) and my troubles were solved...

Solve the issue?  I have the Graco Ultra and have used it to spray over 75 doors and haven’t had any issues and have done no maintenance other than an OCD cleaning after every use.

It sounds to me that the tip size you are using is too small for the paint that you are spraying. Take a look at the Technical Data Sheet for the paint and see what the percentage of solids it has. This number is what should be used in determining the size of tip. What paint are you spraying.Also thinning the paint will now decrease the size of the solids. Post the info and I can help you out.

I was using the tritech tips and decided to go back to graco tips and problem went away

Thanks for that...that's good information.  [smile]  I have a Binks HVLP but I'm thinking about purchasing a Graco just for the convenience factor.

I've never had a problem with my Ultra other than vacuum leak allowing air into cup and I use mine a lot.  I just open the small cap, give the bag a squeeze and I'm back in business.  I found it advantageous to have extra cups, including the large ones offered for the Max.  This lets me keep spraying when a cup is empty and also for immediate cleanup.
