Sprayed these doors using the Graco Triton with a Graco Compliant Air Spray gun. 1.4mm nozzle/needle, pressure was set at 18 psi on the fluid side, 20 psi on the air side, final air pressure was regulated at the gun.

Color was achieved with TT dye, blended/worked to mocha, finish is KA+ DRE.

The 1.4 is a little to large, would have preferred an 0.8 or 1.0.

Updated my rotators also.

Nicely done!  I am quite curious to know what contraption is holding the doors.  That appears to be a custom made assembly...?  For some reason, I can't open the photos into a large scale, so I can't quite make out what or how the doors are being held.

I have a door package that I need to shoot in my garage in the next couple weeks.  The doors are still being manufactured.  I have limited space and the ability to move them around would make a significant difference.  If you wouldn't mind sharing more about the cleat system, it'd be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Not sure why the pictures are doing what they're doing now.

Maybe this one will work?

This video shows the first generation rotators.

Why this set up and not the Fuji HVLP? You have an airless too don't you?
Is this new?

Seeing if it solves some of the finish issues I've had with the Fuji. I do know the product breaks up and "holds" better with the Triton then the Fuji.

Yes, new set up. Something I'm trying out. Graco is allowing me to play with it for awhile before I decide if I want to buy it.

Yes, bought a slightly used (5 gallons total) FP II 395  AAA PC. It's in this picture.

It's been an expensive month....

What does the triton do that the 395 will not? Checked out the Graco site inconclusive as specifications link to many units.

I like air spray type guns. There are more controls at the gun with an air spray than there are with a AAA gun.

I got the AAA because I have heard/read it is the best choice for finishing, couldn't pass up the unit for the price I paid. I hope to have the time to use it within the next 2 weeks. If I don't like it I'll sell it.

Ok, confused. AAA is technically an "air spray" system isn't it? As there is air dispersing the paint at the gun so how is the FPII 395 in airless mode different than a GX19, or a Triton etc.

Where is the Triton positioned relative to pure airless vs. AAA? Seems to be a hybrid airless using air to move the pump diaphragm vs hydraulics. What problem is it solving, cheaper, easier to maintain etc.? Graco's product line and upgrades are frustrating.

more atomization right? Thats my understanding. I see it operates up to 100psi which puts it in a high transfer rate + high control zone. I think you would see more control, perhaps less material transfer in the same amount of time but at up to 100psi I'm sure it can cover quickly. I have a HVLP and Airless, I'd trade them for one of these tritons.

Very curious about the FF pro HVLP + airless rigs VS the triton/kremlin style air pumps. I always thought the FF pro would be the next step.

All the items I sprayed the primary pressure was set at 20 psi air, 20 psi fluid. Controlled the product and air with the guns adjustments (air to air cap, fluid volume, fan width).

I'm using a 4 gallon 2HP California Air Tool compressor to drive the Triton pump and supply the gun. Wanted to see if it could keep up, it does.

The Graco AirPro gun does atomize the fluid better than my Fuji.

I believe (just a guess form how I understand the Kremlin, Merkur and C.A.T. pumps work) the difference from the 395 AAA is the energy used to pressurize the fluid. The 395 AAA uses an electric motor to run the pressure pump and has an onboard compressor for atomization air. In either case, the first breaking up of the fluid is at the nozzle/tip. With any of these system you can spray without atomizing air (I know you can with the 395 and Merkur, I believe you can with the others). By adding the atomizing air the droplets should be much smaller.

I know the 395 AAA and Merkur take the same guns a G15 (low pressure 1500 psi gun) or the G40 (high pressure 4000 psi gun). If I was spraying walls, I can put my SG-3 gun (the gun from my other airless) on the 395 AAA.

One thing I'm very curious about is microfoaming of KA+ with the AAA.

I also am curious as to how you fair with the 395.
As I'm on the fence between the triton/gx19
And 395AAA. I was at the S-W pro show this week
And Rep tells me triton is basically for clears only
Felt like sales pitch for the AAA. I can say the 395 is a big machine.
The new Fuji reduced pressure looks interesting
But I think size of compressor needed will deam it not really portable

The Fugi gun is basically 14 cfm at 40 psi, high side air usage, like most industrial/professional guns. lots of competition in that class. BW

Exactly.
Not sure why they entered this market, they aren't adding any value, and it's very competitive with established names that have more marketing muscle and distribution.

Hi Tom,

Have you had the chance to spray some more KA+ with the 395 AAA and Triton?  I'm interested to hear your thoughts and which system you prefer.

Are you still happy with the  4 gallon 2HP California Air Tool compressor driving the Triton pump?

Cheers,
Bryan

Triton yes---AAA no.

Triton works extremely well. Think of it as a pressure pot and turbine in one. For some reason the needles/nozzles are not as readily available as other brands.

The 2HP 4 gallon has kept up just fine. I'm getting this compressor on the 11% sale, just to free up the smaller unit. It's last years model but I can't beat the price;

I do plan on using the AAA, just been busy spraying finish paint through it. It works really well for trim paint finishes.

I did get a C.A.T. Bobcat gun for the AAA, just need to find the time to play with it all.

This is the newer model #10020C demo, not sure about the sound comparison test near the end on Home Depot so I found the YouTube video.  What do you guys think?  Edited out??
