Per customer request, I've created an assortment of Granat abrasives for the DTS 400.

It has 20 of each of the following grits in 100mm x 150mm delta format - P120, P150, P180, P220, P240, P320.

Tom,

I was about to order this assortment from your website and reread the above posting a second time.  What sense is there in including both P220 and P240?

I’ve long wondered why Festool offers both.  For sanding wood, aren’t they both essentially the same?  P240 is something like 58.5 micron abrasive and P220 is 65 microns.  The grit size appears to differ by around 3/10,000 (three ten-thousandths) of an inch.  If the issue is the 32 micron gap between P180 and P320, then wouldn’t just offering P240 solve the need?

Wouldn’t it make more sense to swap out the P220 in your assortment and replace it with P400 making the assortment: P120, P150, P180, P240, P320, P400?

Or, is there someone out there who really feels we need both P220 and P240 and actually uses them both?

Gary:

You make a very good point and I will re-evaluate.

If there is a consensus that skipping 220 and including 400 makes more sense, then I am totally amenable. I got the impression, initially, that not many people took their projects to 400.

Tom, I just want a guitar amp that goes to 11.. [wink] Oh, wait, wrong forum for that...  Seriously, for me, having just picked up some Granat for my RTS 400, my vote is to step down one level and include 80 grit, skip the 220, include all the other listed grits you named, and stop at 320.
But that's just me, and I don't own the DTS 400, yet.... [tongue]

I was seriously thinking, and still am, about just including all available grits. I just finished a project where I used P 60 to remove a bunch of paint and glue from an interior wall and found it perfect.

I guess I'll do another assortment and include all grits.

If someone wants a "custom", just let me know.

Tom

Well there you go. Maybe offer the coarse grits as one kit, and the fine stuff as a separate sys. Or all in one. I can't speak for anyone else on this, but I always find that cutting myself short on buy a WIDE range of a new abrasive like with Granat, ,means I don't really know its full potential since I may have opted to get a small, "normal" set of grit selection. Then, I trudge back and buy all the other grits that I didn't, the first time... [mad]  Slowly, I learn... [embarassed] [embarassed] [embarassed]

Is there a package like this for the RO 150 multistream hole configuration?

Tom, we are waiting for you to list what is in the "all grits" assortment.

I'll make one for the 150 and the all grits selection. 'Sorry - I was busy all day in the yard.

I realize this is an old thread, but I am looking for an assortment for the DTS400 to sand through the grits (120, 180, 240, 320, 400). The link is now pointed at a NSFW site (fair warning!) and I wonder if anyone is still breaking up bulk packages into assortments.

FestoolNirvana sells custom assortment packs for the DTS400 in regular Granat:https://www.festoolnirvana.com/coll...r-50-custom-abrasive-assortments-granat-50pcs

or the new Granat Net:https://www.festoolnirvana.com/coll...-custom-abrasive-assortments-granat-net-50pcs

or Rubin 2:https://www.festoolnirvana.com/coll...u-50-custom-abrasive-assortments-rubin2-50pcs

I ordered a 50 pc assortment for my RO150.  The order came very promptly.  Someone from FestoolNirvana even reached out to me to make sure I was aware that I was ordering the older MultiJetstream hole pattern (exactly what I wanted) and not the new MultiJetsteam II pattern.

I am very pleased with my order.
