Just curious if Granat will ever be made available for the RS2E sander...

Scot

It's my understanding that it was only recently introduced. We should expect to see it in the coming months.

I'm hopeful as I'm considering the RS2E in the very near future and Granat is my paper of choice!

Are there any updates on getting Granat for the RS 2 E?

I believe it's been ordered. It takes a minimum of 4-6 weeks for shipments from Germany to cross the pond. As soon as it's available, I'm sure the friendly FOG dealers will let you know. They will get an announcement of its availability. I will also try to notify members.

Exactly my situation too.

Thanks for the update, Shane!

Awesome news!  Do you know what grits it will cover, by chance?  And, any pricing?

I've run out of waiting time and need to get paper ordered so I have something for next week. Did anyone get a shipment today? Please?

I just checked with my local dealer, they haven't seen it yet. I'm sure on-line dealers who frequent here like Sean, Bob, and  Tom can add more to this.  [unsure]

The update is... we don't have it yet. Like I said, I will keep everyone posted when it arrives. Sorry for the delay.

Wow, this is great news! I've always liked Cristal as well, and use it on my RT S400

My RS2 is like a '76 E-l-d-o-r-a-d-o - 500 cubic inch V8 moving 5,000lbs.

That's 8.2 litres moving about 2,268Kg for our UK/Australasia/European friends.

Once you get that thing moving, let momentum take over.

There are people elsewhere on the planet that have access to the internet !!!

Anyway, a more apt analogy would be a Mercedes 600 Pullman ... I can relate German refinement to Festool, but not big American metal of the 70's ... gas guzzlers!

I think a sander that behaved like a '76 Eldorado would run on three phase power, consume 200 sheets of sandpaper an hour and require a work bench with a 3 tonne capacity rating - that's just for the sander  [smile]

Kev,
I certainly meant no offense by not including your geographic region, much less the great nation of Australia. And your suggestion that the benchmark of precision luxury automobiles for many years, the Mercedes 600 Pullman, was more analogous to the RS2 than the great American land yacht, Eldorado, will find no argument from me. :)
But you may find the weight of some 600 Pullman models to be greater than the Cadillac, with fuel consumption quite the same as well. The Mercedes did offer much better utility and function, was decades ahead of the Cadillac in its mechanicals, and was in another league when it came to style and class.

So is that thing any good?  There's a used one locally on Craigslist here...

Don't expect it to remove material like an ROS.
As a fine finish sander for flat panel work, it is excellent.

Buy it. Unless it's been worked to death , should be in good shape. If you've never used a 1/2 sheet sander before, it will surprise you on how easy it is to maneuver around. As noted by the other posters, think of it as a mild to medium sander versus mild to wild like the Rotexes.
