I think they said they were a few months away from a big launch. The tool looks great! Small and some other really attractive features. Best of all fires hard, into hard wood and leaves very little marking at all.

Can anyone offer some guidance on choosing a pinner?  From the specs it seems the big pinners will also shoot the small pins, so I am thinking the advantage of the small pinners are price and weight but wondering if there is any other reason to go with something smaller than a 2".

Jeff

Hey Jeff,

The P650L has an "anti-dry-fire lockout" Feature.  With this feature the Pinner will stop firing when there are 7 pins left, then you can override it (with a button on the side), count out your last 7 shots and secure your piece of trim or molding knowing you have 7 shots left.  When using a 23G not only is it hard to see the shots you make, particularly when doing any overhead work, it is a real pain when you think that you have secured something, only to find out it falls down because you happen to ran out of pins halfway through.  I like the P650L!  PS the override button can also be pressed on the P650L to fire 3/8" pins, so when you see the specs saying it only fires 1/2" - 2", all you have to do is hit the override/anti-dry-fire button and you got yourself a 3/8" Pinner.

All Grex Pinners can fire their highest Capacity pins into the hardest of woods. Just Remember to crank up your compressor, those pinners can handle 100-110 no problem.

Our Best Sellers in our store are the P650L and the P635 (for its value and not everybody needs a 2")

Thanks
Shawn

So about 17 months later, what is the word on the Grex cordless? I was told at the Woodworking Show in New Jersey that they would be launched soon. I saw a few bits on the Internet but nothing very definite. Apparently it will have some form of ignited gas power, but I do not know any more than that.

Does anyone low why the Makita cordless 23 gauge pinner is available in Canada and to the US?  UL issues maybe?

Shawn,  what is the difference between the P650L and the P650LX.  I have searched and not been able to find the LX version in Canada.  It shows up on the GREX US site.  Is that why the P650L is on sale because they want to get rid of stock before the introduction of the LX ?

Is the Makita Pinner not available in the USA?

also the cordless is close, I am confident it will be out within the next 17 months!

The LX Pinner vs L in a nutshell:
1. It does not have a double trigger switch safety, it has a safety in the nose! (it is easier to fire/hold)
2. 9.75Lx8.25”Hx2”Wx3.25lbs vs P650L which is 7.75”Lx8.75”Hx1.75” Wx2.68lbs (so larger, heavier, HeavyDuty, but same quality)
3. Larger piston head and improved design which produces over 20% more power than the P650L
4. The P650LX driver is more robust and more capable of sustaining contact with steel stud and drywall corner bead (less broken drivers, and you can actually trim into steel studs if you grind the pointed heads of the pins square) PLEASE BE ADVISED ATLAS OR MYSELF DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS
5. One touch over-ride accesses 10 pin reserve (P650L you have to hold the button and shoot the 7 pins in reserve)
