Guide Rail Bag

Hi Everyone

I need a guide rail bag and was about to get the Festool one when I thought to see if anyone had commented on them on the forum. I found that some weren't too happy with the quality of the bags especially compared to their predecessor. So I searched around and it seems that the Makita ones have more padding. I'm not worried about cost I just want to get the best one so if you have any experience with the different bags I look forward to hearing from you!  [laughing]

Also, I took delivery of a new 1010 yesterday - yay  [big grin]. I've not used it yet but the knob that locks the plunge depth wobbles regardless of how much it's tightened (ie the round black knob on the side of the router). Is this normal? I've not found this with any router I've ever used (admittedly just a couple of Dewalt ones).

I got one from Amazon. I believe it was made to fit a Bosch rail, any way it is longer than the Festool rail bag. There is a divider inside to separate the rails, a zippered section for connectors on the outside. It is padded, has reinforced seams, carry handle, and shoulder strap. It cost about 1/3 to 1/2 less then the Festool bag and it was shipped from the U K. For me the extra length is not a problem for others it could be.

Several Foggers have gotten this one on ebay from China, pretty sure they have been happy. (Dont have one personally)

Here's what I just got.  Decent quality, padded, internal divider for 2 tracks, outside pocket, carry strap and handles, big zippers. The Makita tracks are the same size as Festool 1400 tracks.  Recommended!

I was looking at that one.  I know it has a separation for 2 tracks, but will it hold more than 2, and if so, any guess how many?

You might be able to squeeze 3 in there, but I won't guarantee it.  It's not tight with 2, but it fits the 2 like it was designed for that.  Three or more and the zippers may not be able to reach each other.  I did just now try putting the two tracks I have face-to-face in one side, and you might be able to get another one in there in the other side of the divider, or possibly 2 more face to face if that makes sense, but I'm skeptical, esp with 4 in there.

Pretty sure you habe enough info about the bag, let's move onto the wobbly knob now.

I have had the same with a 1400, for some reason the screw inside the knob loosened and it's causing this wobbly knobby.
Remove the cap from the knob to gain acces to the screw, thighten the screw, put on the cap and enjoy a wobbly free knob

Thanks about the knob. It just didn't feel like it was right straight out of the box. Will try to sort the wobbly

I have been using the Dewalt guide rail bags for years.  They work very well.  1/3 the price of the Festool bag.  You can put several rails in them with no problem.  I have the Festool bag, but it seems a little off. Can't really explain why, just haven't been happy with it.

In the UK?  Bosch or Makita for 1400 and shorter.
In the US, the Fastcap bags.
That said, I bought a Festool bag a week before the Fastcap one arrived to
my local hangout.  I did not die from the experience.
