I just about finished installing/delivering these yesterday.  I would be all done but the locks I ordered from CSH don't work  [mad], so I'll have to go back when I get the situation resolved.  Luckily, the customer was very understanding.  The crown and the feet are from Osborne.  I had to make a jig for the table saw in order to miter the return for the feet.  The lower drawers on the larger unit have glass fronts so that the owner can display a pistol in each one (almost like a shadow box).  The latter case is one of two that are identical.
 
Very Nice. I need something like that to hold 20 rifles with a lower shadow/Display box for my dozen pistols.

I like how you did the crown, matching the corners up. What material di you use for the glass? Tempered? Lexan?

Did you work off of plans or did you design yourself via Sketchup with the customer's input?
 
Just tempered glass.  I've never used lexan in these applications although I suppose I could. 
No sketchup involved just good ol fashioned pencil and paper.  I've used sketchup in the past and for a couple of projects I thought I had the hang of it but I got away from it and haven't invested the time again to relearn.
 
Amazing work...these are gorgeouos!  Do you have any pics with the door open?  I would like to see more detail of the rails and stiles.  You do some beautiful work.

Thanks all for the kind words.  These were done for the same clients that I did some gun cabinets for previously.  They moved within the last year and the old gun cabinets were built in so they stayed at the old house. 
The crown was not cheap but I was really pleased with the quality of it and the legs.
I don't like all the empty space above the doors.  I would've preferred to either have carvings there or some raised panels but I was under budgetary constraints so we were left with bare wood.
Since the glass fronted drawers are going to contain pistols they needed to locked.  I could've used some kind of mortised lock but decided against that.  I ended up drilling four through holes in the side walls of the middle cabinet.  Each hole extends through the side of each of the drawers and then a dowel is placed through the hole, locking the drawer in place.  You have to unlock the middle cabinet doors in order to access the dowels.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

I suppose it's fairly normal in the US for families that "grow up" with guns. If you saw something like that on display in a house in Australia, you probably wouldn't go back for a second visit.

Nice workmanship though.

i would love to have a cabinet like that but i just can not figure out a way of have it be pleasing and yet secure.  it is too bad there is that level of fear. I wonder how many fear liquor cabinets and wine cellars? not looking for the eternal gun control argument. Is this for display purposes only?  i would love to figure out a way of having both security and cosmetics. considering your experience have you any thoughts?

If you want to make a display cabinet safe, you can use highly secure glass and/or lexan options. Obviously the frames will also need to be robust. At the extreme, consider steel frames with a timber facade.

There's ways round problems like these - but cost could be high.

Consider that a rare butterfly could be just as precious ...
