"Gun-tainer" with kaizen

Here's the guntainer I put together as a kit for transport to and from the shooting range. I used a T-Loc sys2 with locking latch so that I can lock the gun/ammo up for transport as required by law (don't have a trunk in my truck!).

It also contains my cleaning kit and extra clips as well as a block of ammo. Hoping to get a block with a lid in the future so it can be turned sideways without spilling the ammo. Or I may just work up a foam lid solution to hold everything tight.

I used some older Tanos systainers to achieve a similar setup. Your is more refined. Looks like .40 cal to me, which would make that firearm a G27 if I am not mistaken. Lovely piece in my opinion, but I cut my chops on the Glock system.

One piece of advice, which I am sure you already know, is that foam, even thought its hardened resin, will allow water to "sweat" on the foam, so initially I would check it to see if humidity makes it a maintenance issue, at least for the ammo. the Glocks themselves as you know, are bomb proof though. My house draws constant high humidity so I need to wipe my stuff down often (we have an underground stream that runs under our house)

Thanks. Yeah, it's a model 27. I sized it do the wife could use it to.

I'm not worried about sweating, the will live in its safe most of the time. And the ammo is in a plastic block it came in.

I'm more worried about little bits of foam getting into the gun!

Brilliant!  Gotta love Glock's too.  How do you like your ear muffs?  I have the same set....great at the range when you're with a buddy.  I use em in the shop too.

Love the earmuffs. Thinking about using them on the plane too.

Btw, look up the show "epic yachts" to see how the leight family is spending your money. Off the charts boat!

For the lock, you have to order the latch and replace the stock one. Woodcraft has them.

That's what I thought I remembered from Colorado, but when I looked up Ca, no mention of that.

It's legal in California to transport a firearm and ammunition in the same locked case, but the ammo cannot be attached to the firearm in any way.  For example, a clip can be loaded and carried in the same case, but the clip cannot be in the gun, even if the chamber is empty.

That's right, Sparky, I never thought of that when I saw first saw the  picture.  In MA,  ammo and firearms must be transported separately, not only in different bags but one needs to in the trunk and the other in the back seat.  I hate this state.

This is not necessarily true.  Parts of CA penal code define loaded as "ready to fire."  So far, no case has come forward to test the definition of "ready to fire."  It could be interpreted to mean that all that is needed is to pull the trigger.  If that were the ruling, then a semiauto pistol would not be "ready to fire" until a bullet was in the chamber.  Typically, this would require magazine loading and racking the slide.  If "ready to fire" requires more actions than just pulling the trigger, it would be a difficult logical path to define how many steps back of pulling the trigger is "ready to fire."

I'm not going to try and set precedent and keep the magazine out of pistol during transport.

Knowing where it's legal to use such a case seems like an important part of the discussion.
