I am looking at a French Chain Mortiser.

It it made by Deshayes Freres Paris.

I can find no info on them.

Anyone know anything about this company?

A few pictures:

There used to be manufacturers in almost every city back then, only a few survived. Never heard of this one, can't help!

I tried a different tack by searching for businesses at that address. It is now a large modern office building and any heavy manufacturing looks to have disappeared.

I even tried searching in French, using the French words.

Deshayes Freres  Mortaiseuses à chaine.

I just can't believe there is not a single thing to be found at all about the company.

I tried a few different variations in French with no luck.

Maybe you found the only thing in the world with no info about it on the net  [wink]

Found a few for sale though.......

Wish that were true. For instance, Peugeot power tools. I believe they exist, but I never could find anything about them. Maybe it's a French thing.

OUCH!!!

[doh] Yup, stuck my chin out for that one!! [big grin]

I only found an ad to sell an DESHAYES router made in the 70's ... HERE . I'll try sending the seller a piece of email asking about the manufacturer ...

Problem is the tools are even worse than the cars  ;) I am actually a Peugeot / Citroen fan but the Peugeot name re the tools has sadly been sold and the stuff bearing their name seem to come from the far east. I'd rather have my Citroen badged Peugeot which is made iin Spain.

You guys are pretty dang good.

The whole searching in French throws me for a loop.

The lack of bars, chains and sprockets are almost enough to scare me off this machine.

Sprockets are 150 bucks a pop, used bars can be found and re-built if needed.  Chains are probably a custom order/make type thing.
