I was looking at my table and when I use it I almost always cut in the same area. I was wondering if any thinks this might be a viable idea. We have the dog holed but where the rail actually sits I don’t use them so I was think route out a a strip and mount something through the dog holes that would raise a strip set in the routed channel up to support the rail when I do narrow cuts. Just a glimmer of and idea I may pursue.

You might want to look at benchdogsUK they do b-collars for their bench dogs, similar to what you have in mind? You’re contemplating shim stock equal to the stock for fine width rippling for making useable off cuts in lieu of a table saw setup. That is a weak link when it comes to using the Festool track/saw for a few reasons that come to mind....
