Hall Display Cabinet

Hi,

I have a client who has a long emply hall from their foyer to the living room.  They asked me to design and build a hall display cabinet.  This is the base under construction.  It is nine feet long, three feet high and twelve inches wide.  There will be a four foot high top.  It will be stained, an espresso colour, and will have open dispaly shelves, crown on the top.  I think it looks okay.  All of the joints are made with the Domino, and the cuts with my Kapex, and table saw.

Let me know if you think the proportions look okay.

The proportions look good to me...maybe a dumb question on my part but why the three sections?  Installation or transportation purposes?

Personally I don't like little corners and nooks (like the gap that'll be in the right corner). Is it a "piece of furniture" or a "wall treatment" they're after?

Me ... ? I'd take the entire wall - no gaps.

If it is to be furniture, I feel it could be a little smaller (overall width) ... otherwise it could be too dominant it that space.

Remember these are only my opinions and are certainly not a criticism.

I think taking the entire wall could be a no no because of the door on the right.   From the pictures the ''piece of furniture'' looks like it sticks past the door opening.  

So your best staying clear from the door way other wise you would have to start making a step back or angle inwards which could create a look Brian doesnt want?

The skirting looks to short near architrave!
