Hi Folks,

Hoping that somebody here has seen this before. I have a brand new A3-41 Jointer/planer and its turning itself off. It happens when jointing, and it doesn't seem like its struggling, but as soon as there is some resistance it turns off. Same happens if I sent a board down on the table, which has me thinking that something is loose maybe? Hoping I can figure it out while I await a call back from the local dealer.

I made a video to demonstrate:=youtu.be

I'm going to test and see if the same thing happens while in planer mode tonight when I get home from work.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers, Chris

Try to locate the capacitors and check the terminals on the run capacitor (warning - unplug the machine and drain the cap before you go sticking your fingers in there).  I think you're right, it's probably just a loose connection.  Without the run capacitor, it will shut down on you.

I'm sure felder will sort this out for you, but if you're itching to get this machine working (I would be), that's what I would do.

Thanks,

Yeah I might wait until I hear back from Felder. I'm not sure how to drain the cap, so best I don't go poking in there just in case :)

Figured it out, it was the interlock switch that prevents the machine from running with the cutter head exposed (between conversion between jointer and planer). I had to extend the bumper that depresses the switch in Jointer mode.

Thanks for the help, back up and running!

when I first received my AD951 I had an issue where the JP combo will do jointing fine but the feeder wont go when in planing mode, I thought it was faulty. called in Felder technician. they spend 20 minutes and found out the neutral was not wired on.

The neutral needs to be wired because the in feed roller runs on a single phase motor and the signal is sent from the neutral....

Thankfully Felder didnt charge me!
