Looking forward to the next 5 years!

Is it really an anniversary or a birthday ?? [scratch chin]

Isn't a birthday an anniversary of birth ...  [smile]

The fog existed as a yahoo group for about 2.5 years prior from what I have read.  Due to the need for testing, there are some members as seen below that joined before the forum was open to the public.

You will see some familiar names.

EDIT:  And another piece of trivia, the admin staff now - Shane:  #99, Seth:  #1560, Peter:  #1614.

Thanks to all of the members who really make this forum an invaluable resource. Let us not forget the time and effort donated by our moderators to help keep the forum a civil and welcoming environment for all of its members who represent dozens of countries around the world.

I'm proud to have been around since the days of the Yahoo Groups and have participated as a member, a Festool dealer, a Festool employee and now the forum administrator. It's my honor to serve the members of this forum and our customers. Thank you all for supporting Festool.

You guys rock!  [thumbs up]

Happy birthday to the FOG.

Shane

Don't forget the man who started this.
Thank you Matthew Schenker

Greetings Everyone,
What an incredible thing to see this forum continue to grow each year!  It was a long and interesting -- and unpredictable -- storyline that got the FOG to where it is now.

I quite often think of all those days and nights dreaming up how to make this work at all, and the magical amazement of it never wore off for me.  Just for fun, I welcome you to go back and look at those earliest posts to see how the unique character of the FOG was being crafted and formed in those conversations.

I don't post much here any more, but I check in now and then, and I'm proud of what it has become.  Festool continues to be a model company in so many ways, and the FOG can serve as a model for anyone trying to start any kind of forum.

Keep it going.

Stay in touch,
Matthew

How did I miss posting in this thread?  ???  [doh]

FOG being a great forum for Festool and general woodworking goes without saying. Much of what it is can be attributed to the level of content contributed by the members. Festool leads to innovative use of the tools and we can find plenty of that  here. As a conduit to advice, help, and service on Festool products , FOG is unsurpassed.

My story here begins in 2007 when I (like many others) was looking for an improved sheet goods cutting set up. I was asking about possibilities on another forum. A member there  directed me to FOG.  I ended buying a CT22, ATF55, and rails, and I was hooked.  At some point I was invited to be a moderator on tF, and my involvement there , mostly in the Systainer department, took enough time that I could not really do much  on FOG. I pretty much had a two year hiatus from FOG. When I stopped moderating tF, I began checking in  at FOG more frequently. Then about six months later the chance to moderate here was offered. And I thought 'do I really want to take that on again?' Obviously I said yes (don't know what I was thinking   [blink]  ) but I am glad I did.

It has been quite a ride with Festool, FOG, and tF.  [eek]   [big grin]

Thanks to everyone that makes FOG a great forum !  [thumbs up]  [thanks]

Seth

Because of the earlier Yahoo version of FOG, it is more like 7 or 8 years of FOG.  And I am proud to be able to say that I was here from the very beginning.

Thanks for getting this place started Mathew, and for all your hard work in keeping FOG going in its formative years.
