Do you wish to remove the Surfix hard wax oils? If so, I'd just sand the piece with 120/150/180 and apply your replacement finish. Did Festool discontinue the Surfix product line? It was decent IMO, but other hard wax oils like Rubio, OSMO, Odie's Oil etc. have been a lot more popular for the last few years.

The entire Surfix product line was discontinued about a year ago. What was really jaw dropping was that within 1-2 months of the announcement, EVERYTHING vanished from the shelves and the only items that you could MAYBE find were a few 5 liter containers of oil.
I don't know if that situation was because of demand or if dealers just didn't stock much of the stuff.

I recently purchased (second hand) a Surfix kit from a guy who had no luck with the Surfix oil products.
I was hoping to empty the remaining Surfix oils and use the applicators with a 2k product. I've had good results with 2k. It's not an easy system to master, and being able to pre-measure and mix small amounts on the job site is mandatory. Being and oil based system, the Surfix applicator looks perfect for small jobs, and the Festool Vlies 800 (Scotch Brite) pads on the RTS 400 is a brilliant way to finish the 2k once it's dry. I wish Festool would make Vlies pads in a triangle for the RO 90.
So, to answer your question, I'm looking for a solvent that will cut/clean out the Surfix oil bottles, and the pad that holds the sponges.

I wonder if some everclear, the good stuff not the watered-down product some states sell, would rise things out well. I plan on trying g on a couple of applicator bottles I have once they are empty.
