I haven't found it necessary to want to defeat the hard stops. Since my miter saws don't leave the shop and never run off extension cords they last literally forever which means they outlive their usefulness. Until late 2008 I was using the same original Makita 10 inch chop saw from 1981 and was looking for a replacement for a few years. My first choice, the 12-inch Makita had severe positive stop problems. From my tests at dealer locations, the Makita and Bosch wanted to snap in to the positive stops and could not be satisfactorily locked near those stop. Accidentally bumping the Makita from my chosen stop turned the table and it snapped in to the positive stop.
One of the advantages of the Kapex is that you can set any angle, easily, and the saw will keep it. I've used my Kapex for over two years and it has never had this kind of problem. I can set an angle, largely ignore the saw for a week or two, bang in to it occasionally, and the setting will still be reliable.
I see no reason for you to have to do what you suggested. If you are having problems with the positive stops having a mind of their own, contact Festool service because there is probably something wrong with your saw.
