have you ever sold a Festool and why?

In my case i have only been buying more, some i like more than others, but there is none that i can see me parting with, while i had pretty much all the tools i needed from other brands before, i have been selling those gradually to replace with Festools
The more the better it seems, now that i recently bought a MINI vac to accompany my good old CT22, instead of thinking of selling the CT i am rather leaning toward a third vac  [scared]

I have sold many of my Festool tools for many reasons, but I was limited to3 choices -so I picked 3.

So far I have not wanted to sell anything.  I try to plan my purchases carefully, think about it things for awhile before I buy to make sure it is what I want/need.  Has worked so far.

I don't have room in the shop to be a collector.  Generally when I buy a tool, I sell the one it replaces.  If a tool sits idle for a year, it goes on sale.  Only festool I just wound up not using was the MFK700 - good tool, just didn't fit the way I work.

I have given a few Festools to good friends who appreciate them. To celebrate of very successful first year working in our then new shop I gave a CSX set along with the Installer's Bit Set to each of the six cabinet makers working for me.

When I started my new shop in 2010, the cabinet maker who is our specialist in face frames, cabinet doors and drawer fronts wanted to use his personal Kapex. He had taken delivery of that the same night I got my first Kapex. Our dealer opened at midnight when the day came he could let us have our pre-ordered Kapex. After my shop was doing so well for a year, I asked my frame guy if he would consider selling his personal Kapex. I paid him the price of a new one, because his was in such magnificent condition. This way he still uses his trusted Kapex in my shop. At home he has a brand-new Kapex.

Sorry Joiner, since I opened the shop in 2010, our office manager/bookkeeper has become a full-time employee. Previously she split her time between my cabinet shop and another business I own. We have added 3 assistant cabinet makers now that I am only part time.

We do have a stack of resumes on file,

My goal was to create a place where we all could be happy building the finest custom cabinets as possible with a minimum of frustration. Although at 80 I am the oldest, 2 of the cabinet makers are nearing 70. They had tried retirement. About 2008 we got to talking at our favorite Festool dealer and also at a lumber dealer popular with cabinet and furniture makers in Los Angeles. They understood what I wanted to do. All were on the payroll during the process of selecting the building and designing the renovations. All expect to work another few years at least.

I have been using Festools for fifteen years and my first purchase was an ATF55, E150/3, RO150 and a CT33.  Only the CT33 remains in the shop. Since then, I have sold some older models and replaced them with new ones...

ATF 55 and 65 saws became TS 55 and 75.
DS400 replaced by DTS400
RO150 upgraded to RO150 FEQ
150/3 with hard wired power cord traded up for an ES150/3

These tools resale prices pay better interest rates than a current CD at the bank.

I sold my ATF55, CT22 and rails to upgrade to TS55, CT33, and longer FS2 rails.  I had used then for about four years and got 75% of the original price back when I sold them.

i would have no problem selling a tool if i no longer needed it or wanted to upgrade. i havent yet but will eventually when a newer better model comes along.
buying is a different story. i would rather buy new or from someone i know  because i want to protect my investment by buying a known quality

Don't worry I wasn't being serious just thought it sounded great they way you bought all your staff cxs drills. It would be a bit of a commute for me to work for you

Sold the rail guide kit and I am selling my ETS 125 this week. In both cases I just wasn't using the tools.

I've sold 2 ro150 and a ts 55. I bought two used package deal and kept the tools I needed/ wanted and sold the ones I already own.

I have sold a TS 75, MFT/3 and Domino. They were all absolutely amazing tools, but I simply did not use them in a home hobby shop moving away from cabinets to hardwood furniture with traditional joinery. The good news is they sold INSTANTLY and for a very good price, for me and the buyers. Within 3 hours of posting each on Craig's List I had cash in my hand.

Even though I still know I would not use them each enough, I do miss them and think about them. I can think of no other tool that I have sold (other than a Walker Turner bandsaw) that is the subject of nostalgic day dreaming.

I still have two Festool sanders, router and vac and those I use all the time.

Sold a Domino and bought it again for less than I sold it for. Sold an MFT cuz it was a gift and I no longer needed it as a chop saw stand (sawhelper replaced it!)
