Have you used the Rotozip Zipsaw RFS1000 and what do you think about it?

Looking for positive and negative feedback on it including feedback comparing it to other small sized saws.

I look forward to watching this thread.  A Buddy and I were picking up some lumber and saw a Dremel Saw-Max display. It seems that it is almost the same as the Rotozip.

My buddy said "I'll wait til Festool makes one...then I know it's made right and will last."

Cheers,
Steve

Ken, we don't sell this particular model so I can't give any feedback. I do know that a lot of guys are liking the Rockwell Versacut quite well. The allure (IMHO) to the Rotozip version is if you have the old Zipmate attachment for the Rotozip cutout tools, they take the same blades. I'm curious myself though to anyone with first hand experience with this saw though. Anyone?

Peter,

I bought a Rotozip Zipsaw and used it last week for one job.  Returned it the next day.  Half-@@@ design and very difficult to control in either direction, but pulling towards you offers the best control.  I have the RZ2000 with the ZipMate wheel attachment.  I thought that a dedicated tool would be faster, easier and better to use --- wrong!  The body on the Zipsaw is great, better than cutting with the RZ2000, but the blade guard/housing is crap.  All plastic with a plastic locking clamp that doesn't even hold it down tight to the body of the saw.  There's no adjustment and it wiggles, so during use, the blade cuts into it.  You can't use the blade guard as a straightedge because it wiggles and there's no blade depth adjustment.  The Zip Mate attachment for my RZ2000 has a locking metal clamp that works, a blade depth adjustment plate that works and can be used as a straightedge guide while cutting against something.  I called Bosch/Rotozip with my usage findings and asked them to try and sell me on keeping the Zipsaw.  The guy honestly said he couldn't and agreed with me that it would be best to just keep using the RZ2000 setup.   --- That's my personal experience with the tool.

Festool,  you got something in the works for your version of Rotozip style tools?  Might be a good market segment!

Wow - thanks for the honest review - we need that! Are you coming up Saturday? If so, I'm curious to your thoughts on the Versacut if you haven't used it yet.......

Yes, driving with Dave, but Dave wants to leave early so doesn't seem like we'll be there too long.  I hear Sean's not going to be there.

I haven't had the chance to use the Versacut yet, so I don't have any opinions about it.  I think I've seen it when walking through Lowes, but I never stopped to really check it out.  Maybe I'll get to use it in your store?  We can cut down that wall you guys call Sean's office.  [big grin]

Sean's out of town. I don't know exactly when the International Man Of Mystery returns and unfortunately I won't make it but ask Doug for a demo. He may have one in the back to try out.

Thanks, I will.  Guess there's a Star Wars convention the same weekend.  [big grin]
